I saw Gil performing the Korngold concerto which really impressed me immensely. So, naturally, I wanted to hear him play this, my favourite violin concerto. And NO sense of disappointment followed. He plays very sensitively when required but really knows how to let go and enjoy the music - especially in the finale. Wonderful, with fine playing from the SWR. Anyone who hasn't heard Gil play the Korngold should search for it now. It may not be familiar to you in which case you're really in for a treat. You will get the same level of energy, excitement, and joy!

Das Besondere an dieser Interpretation ist die Eleganz. Shaham sieht das Konzert eben nicht als reines Virtuosenschlachtross, sondern arbeitet die feinen, sensiblen Momente heraus. Das war ein sehr schönes Konzert.

@@Illandir can you explain? why is the historical bow so tight?
@BetonBrutContemporary4 жыл бұрын
@@Illandir in case of a baroque bow, the bowhair tension helps the playing style of the era, in which requires minimal vibrato and relatively low tension on the hand that is holding the bow. but in this case, mr shaham has applied maximum tension to his MODERN BOW for unknown reason (maybe one that i have stated earlier), which is an ultimate nightmare fuel for most of the modern violin players.

I'm sorry, but this not clapping between movements needs to stop being a thing. The 1st mov finale was unbelievable. As an orchestral musician it almost hurts when silence follows. When you watch a play, or an opera, applause always follows each scene change. This isn't any different. It's a bit insulting because of "protocol" been doing this 25 years...still hate that this has become normal.
@jefolson69893 жыл бұрын
Applause is better between movements than what I usually hear: COUGHING!

Bruno Lelis Santos Lol i mean you can disagree with a few things (such as shaham starting the piece on an upbow for some reason), but it’s certainly not horrible. He plays too fast in my opinion, but he’s not rushing, has good musicality, and doesn’t make any major mistakes. At best his playing is slightly offensive because of the Bowing patterns and speed
