I am talking about the fact that the man could score but averaged 17 points a game, which is only about seven points less than Kareem Abdul Jabbar. That is true about The 80s dunk contests. They repeated the same dunks a few years in a row. I remember my uncle first showing me the first MJ vs Dominique dunk contest when i was a kid in around the early 2000s. Then he showed me the next few battles they had in the dunk contest and im thinking "jordan did the same free throw line dunk, cradle dunk and leaning windmill in consecutive dunk contests and still got 50s?" This was after the 2000 dunk contest where i and my cousins were saying vince carter was the best dunksr and mt uncle was like "let me show you youngins something". The first battle was cool but them doing the same dunks over again had me unimpressed with the dunk contest jordan won. We started laughing about that and he got mad. He was the biggest jordan fan, always bringing up jordan whenever a game was on.

These guys are ignorant as hell. 1. Dr J listed guys who are retired. 2. He didn’t specify an order 3. He routinely says that when he does these lists, he chooses his favourite players. Not the best players 4. To criticise a guy for choosing old school players and not choosing modern era players is the same as young people today choosing modern era players and ignoring old school 5. Show some respect. Old school players led the way for the game today. Without them, the next generation wouldn’t be able to evolve the game. We stand on the shoulder of giants 6. Tiny Archibald led league in scoring and assists in the same season. That has still not been replicated by anyone. He’s a legend

Even on modern all-time lists, nobody is leaving out the true old school greats. 5. Fair but it's Gil's Arena 6. Gilbert Arenas actually said that if you've got Bill Russell on your top 10 list then he questions your basketball knowledge. That has to be the most ridiculous, dumb, and embarrassing statement that I've ever heard from someone who claims to be knowledgeable about basketball. Arenas claims that the players of the 80s were all on cocaine. May I suggest that the guys on this podcast may have dipped into the psychedelics? I can't really understand Gilbert's motivation in making these statements about Bill Russell. Does he really believe this? Does he have something against Bill Russell for some reason? To me it seems like propaganda and lies. Maybe it's just to get likes and clicks? First of all after looking it up I found that the average height of NBA players during Bill Russell's career was actual 6'5" The average height during Arenas' career was 6'7" and the average height during the 2023 season was 6 ft 6.74 in. If Wilt Chamberlain himself said that Bill Russell is the number-one centerr of all time does Arenas question Wilt's knowledge of basketball? Red Auerbach always talked about not giving a s*** about statistics. All he, the Celtics and Bill Russell cared about was winning every game. There is one amazing and astounding statistic that arenas overlooks. Championship winning%. During Bill's career the Celtics had a mind-boggling championship-winning of 85%!!! Bill Russell won 85% of the Championships during the years that he played and he is not in the top 10? That's baffling and idiotic. He was just a hustle player cuz he only scored 16 points a game. Is that what other players said of him when he was playing and after? What about the fact that he revolutionized defense and basically invented the blocked shot? What about all the shots that were altered just from his presence on the floor? You guys dis Dr J for his opinion and his top 10 list and claimed he hasn't watch basketball since 1993. Well I think I can say the same thing of you! How much film have you watched Bill Russell? Were the '69 Lakers full of 5' 10 f'n white people? Oh yeah that Jerry West he f'n sucked because he's white LOL I suggest you stop spewing this blasphemy because there's a lot of younger people who may be listening to you and might even believe you. You guys are a joke! Bill Russell won back-to-back college championships an Olympics gold medal and 11 out of 13 NBA championships. Dude what don't you get? Individual stats are more important to you than winning? Bill Russell was the reason for the Celtics Dynasty. Let me ask you this one last question how do you judge a player's ability to make other players better? Is there a statistic that measures that? Yes the Celtics had many players that went to the Hall of Fame but I think if you asked them they would have attributed a lot of their success to two men. Red Auerbach and Bill Russell

LeBron is only great because of longevity and entering the league from highschool at a point in time when defense is handicap due to the removal of hand checking and lack of basketball fundamentals being forced on players by coaches (He did an excellent job in getting that Cleveland team there and doing whatever it took to keep them competitive against Golden State.....but Kyrie Irving DID win that series when it came down to the bottom line and final minutes.). Steph Curry is an anomaly due to these same weakened fundamentals. Tim Duncan is a legitimate name but he gets overlooked because he wasn't as entertaining personally on the court. Kobe stole everything from MJ so it was like being fed a substitute in his absence. Shaquille O'Neal not making Dr. J' list is only because he saw Wilt first and Shaq although his game wasn't the same as Shaq it was the same in the idea of being dominant. 😎

It's amazing to me when you have these guys who are still wet behind the ears and have the smell of SIMILAX on their breath trying to check The Great Dr. J on his top 10. I'm over 50 yrs old and I like to get the opinion of older people who has watched more players than me. It's one thing to watch a few minutes on KZbin of a player compared to real time. It's like me taking the advice of an 18 yr old about life over someone who is 100 yrs old.Like the old saying " Sometimes people need to be Seen than Heard. I know it refers to kids but its good analogy in this case.

I still dont understand why everyone is so insecure over other people's personal "top lists" it is hilarious to me, no one has to have any specific person in their top lists, my top list wouldnt include any of the common "top 10, 20, or 30" names commonly put in these lists; it is getting irritating that there is this requirement that people include certain names guaranteed in their own supposed to be "personal" listings.

I think it's the small disrespect to the current great/all time great players today. Some of those names on his list really makes you question if he actual watched basketball past 1997. I understand the personal aspect, but I think DR. J needed a better explanation than "some of the players are still playing today".

If u look at the stats Jerry west was a baller. I understand he played in a different era. Therefore, you have to go by stats. The game evolved but at that time they practiced every day and worked hard just like every other era.
