If LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant came into the league and grew up playing back to backs while still having Hall of Fame careers it's no excuse for this new generation lol Gil is right, training in the off-season has to get better

People overcomplicate this too much. The biggest problem is the pace and space. These players have to cover more ground and recover for teammates than they ever have so they are exerting more energy. Statistics actually back this. Once the game slows back down you’ll start seeing less injuries.

@ or maybe their bodies aren’t built to cover that much ground at that size. Go watch a game from 2004 and watch a game now. These players are in great shape, there’s just more responsibility now. You’re not completely wrong but people have this weird obsession with questioning NBA players’ effort. These dudes been playing nonstop since they were kids when you factor in HS, NCAA, AAU, NBA. It makes sense their bodies would break down.

Its simple they don't have trainers who teach these kids how to prevent "injuries", look at how some players know how to instinctively brace and stiff arm or push off, you can literally reduce 50% of injuries simply by just knowing how to prevent players from making direct contact with you

@dreydegrate70948 сағат бұрын
I don’t think the problem is the amount of games I think the problem is how fast the game has evolved into. The nba has completely became back door cuts, fast break dunks and just a fast paced game overall. Weight lifting of course is a problem, but the game was so much slower back then that players weren’t making as many lateral movements
@seanfraser84568 сағат бұрын
Backdoor cuts, v cuts, etc have been around for OVER 40 years and the fast breaks they run now and for the past however long is a pull up 3 instead of a dunk or lay up. These are NOT reasons for them to get hurt.

Playing a fast pace in space puts a ton of wear and tear on the lower extremities, all the switching, driving and kicking… I actually don’t believe basketball isn’t and wasn’t really ever meant to be played at a fast pace, I understand it creates a huge offensive advantage for teams to attack and score quickly because it obviously leads to more possessions, more running up and down, more wear and tear And then yea, guys aren’t practicing like they use to and the training isn’t focused on resiliency and strength, it’s geared for speed and quick feet and shooting I think they need to increase the shot clock to 30 seconds and then there should be a time limit as to when you can take a shot, which should be at least half the shot clock This allows teams to settle into their offense and defense and takes away or lessens the impact mismatches would have They’ve got to incentive or at least level the playing field for the defense and players will adjust to playing a slower yet more physical style; where strength matters more than your ability to change directions on a dime or step back into a 30 footer Shooting all these 3 and the way they’ve over incentivized offense is now hurting the product and it shows because viewership is trash
@penkima49234 сағат бұрын
Shooting all these 3's means a lot less wear and tear on the players. And the 80's was a fast paced era, and all players played 82 games.

Get rid of cable and you will solve all of this. As soon as teams and players find out that people will not pay directly for games, as much as they think, then you'll get some reform measures.
