Gilbert Fire's new electric fire truck

Gilbert Fire Department's new electric fire truck is a first of its kind for Arizona. It's been in action for about a month at the city's busiest fire station. The goal is to see if it's safer and more efficient before potentially converting more of the fleet. Fire Chief Rob Duggan says they've already seen notable improvements.

Well, I certainly hope they keep a gas or diesel firetruck on hand for when the electric one batteries explode and start burning down so need those older trucks to put the fire out, hopefully they park electric one outside the fire house so they don’t lose that too!

What about the possibility it might catch fire while recharging or while on the road. Australia's first EV cement truck did exactly that. Also, the fire truck is not an EV, it is a hybrid. .

they use lithium iron phosphate and not lithium-ion. This battery is less prone to catch fires and even if it did no chance of a runaway fire. Downside they don't go too far this is why the truck only goes 90 miles distance.

Purchased just as the country is turning away from EVs because of costs and lack of reliability. Seems many EVs are junked after relatively minor accidents becsuse too costly to repair. Not a mature technology.

Top 15 reasons this is DUMB. #1 It does NOT reduce response times just because it is electric. #2 Two hours run time is NOT enough time for a fire engine to run/pump water for a working structure fire. #3 Electric vehicles are worse on the environment. #4 Electric vehicles cost MORE up front to purchase than regular gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles. #5 It takes MORE fuel & oil to fuel the trucks, tractors, and equipment to mine the precious metals out of the earth to manufacture the electric vehicle batteries. #6 Electric vehicles only last 1/8th the life span of a diesel powered engine. That means they will have to buy 8 fire engines over the same course of time that 1 diesel powered fire engine will last. #7 Where do you think the electricity comes from to charge it? From a power generating station. 78% of all power generating stations in America are fueled by oil! Which means you dumbbells that keep buying electric cars are actually using MORE oil to charge your dumb electric vehicles. #8 The average life span of an electric vehicle is only 150,000 miles, which is not a whole lot. Which means it will be sitting in a junkyard soon. #9 After the electric battery is completely dead and no longer works, it takes MORE fuel & oil to fuel the tractors, trucks, and equipment to carefully take the precious metals of the electric battery apart. #10 The precious metals are now hazardous materials that have to be carefully buried underground and will remain there for centuries, ruining the environment for your kids, grandkids, great grandkids, great great grandkids, etc etc. #11 America's power grid can't handle more electric vehicles. Look at California. California wants more people to buy electric vehicles and has put a ban on selling gas powered vehicles by 2035, but California also urges people to NOT charge their vehicles because the electrical grid system is already strained and CAN'T handle anymore! 🤔 #12 Fire stations have exhaust systems in the bays for the diesel exhaust. The cancer that is killing firefighters is NOT from the fire engine being diesel powered. It is from their turnout gear off gassing carcinogens inside the cab of the fire engine and also the firefighters tracking those same carcinogens into the station on their shoes. #13 Electric vehicles are more susceptible to catching fire. #14 They can't put the electric vehicle fire out because it's electric, duh! The firefighters don't want to be electrocuted. #15 They keep calling it a fire truck. It is NOT a fire "truck". It is a fire engine. Do your own research people! Stop being sheep! Stop listening to the dumb media! Do your own homework!
