Impeccable analysis, I immediately subscribed to your channel! You have perfectly hit Two of the Three reasons that led Italy to win two consecutive Davis Cups (it doesn't happen very often). The third, which you missed, comes from the following consideration: not many days before the 2024 Davis, the Italian women's duo Errani-Paolini won the women's equivalent of the Davis, the Billy Jean King Cup. So at the top men's, at the top women's and with the world's no. 1 player. It's not a coincidence, it's a long-planned goal, it's a Team result. We have an exceptional head of the Italian Tennis Federation, two very good coaches, and incredible trainers and support team. The Italian Federation has been working for years to bring our Tennis to the world's top, and the results achieved in 2024 are the consequence of the work done in previous years. Finally, in Italy we are all galvanized by the results, this is bringing more and more kids to this sport and I assure you that there is already a long list of very promising kids who are preparing. Ciao! 😊😉

Jannik Sinner’s hard court win percentage in 2024 (94.83%) is the third highest in the open era. The top two - Roger Federer in 2005 (98.03%) and 2006 (96.72%).

Great analysis as always. In that decisive match that won the David Cup when Sinner was losing the momentum after getting broken and being down 30-0 and the crowd going nuts, I remembered what he did a year earlier when he was down 0-40 to Novak and facing 3 match points... and he came back to hold serve then went on to beat Novak. I believe that moment changed him forever. That's when his game went up another level and it lead to him winning his first major and an amazing 73-6 year. Carlos was 3-0 in ATP matches though. He will be Sinner's biggest nemesis.

The format should change if the Davis Cup wants to award the best country assembly. How do you feel about this? The countries with the ATP 5 best-ranked players (the lower sum of the 5 rankings) are assigned a seed and access Quarterfinals; the other countries play 2 round robins to determine the 4 countries that complete the quarters. From the quarters, the countries play 3 singles and 2 doubles. With the current format, it takes 3 players to win the Davis Cup, not that Italy would not have won even if they had to play more matches, but I feel that Australia and Holland do not have 5 players better than the USA or France.
@nathanpollard12232 ай бұрын
The idea of having qualification based off of individual rankings's absurd & unhinged. Perhaps you could have a quota in singles of 4 matches per player per edition, or 3 for qualifiers & 2 per finals, i.e. no player could play 4 singles matches in the qualifiers without using up their quota, no player that played more than 1 singles match in qualifying could play in singles in all 3 ties of the finals. Of course, nothing like this'll ever happen, but it's a (very) good solution to prevent teams with no depth from winning (which I think undermines the team aspect of the competition). In theory, with this rule, Sinner could play the reverse singles in September (if needed) or in February, if Italy draws a tough opponent in the 1st round (which the defending champions don't partake in), & otherwise just play in the finals & maybe 1 qualifier doubles match. A player like Tsitsipas, however, would have a headache in deciding which singles matches to play if Greece were in the qualifiers.

Wasn’t Sinner’s lowest ranked loss Tsitsipas at Monte Carlo? Tsitsipas was #11 I believe at the time and would be in the top 10 after winning the title that week, so off a technicality you could claim Jannik only lost to top 10 players but either way, could say top 15 instead of top 20 to make it more impressive.
