agreed on everything other than "her interviews are always fun". As much as I love her as an actress you can really see and feel how she goes on autopilot for the PR circus and just shuffles through the playbook of press interview platitudes. Just look at Seth first question here: That gave her room for thought and reflection about Thatcher as a tortured soul she had to explore. But instead she just says the old mundane "oh the cast and crew were so great, so much fun". One year into the covid-mess and she didn't even bother to get a decent webcam.

@@memento81 I agree she did not engage on the Thatcher question...Probably not too keen to be controversial or maybe just not as informed as Brits as she is American. Having watched her interviews since 1994 she has probably become more "safe" there have been many where she lets her hair down and gets quite personal. Her early interviews were often quite a ride !..Think the webcam shaming is a little cheap...

And if anything she is the one being cheap for not taking 5 minutes on Amazon and spending a measly hundred dollars on a good webcam when frequently doing press via webcam is a huge part of her job - which she gets paid for handsomely. So I don't think that is unfair criticsm.

@tony james, not so funny because she's renowned for being what's called bidialectal which means that she can easily switch between an English accent and an American one because of her upbringing. Even though she was born in Chicago she lived in England between 1970 and 1981 and had a British accent and then after returning with her family to the U.S. when she was aged 11 switched to an American accent so as not to get bullied by her fellow classmates whilst at high school. She has since moved back to London and has lived there since 2002 so her mastery of both accents is understandable, isn't it?

@wharsmetoothpicson, the same goes for Michael Gove MP whenever he ventures out of London and returns to his Scottish homeland, doesn't it? He's originally from Aberdeen but whenever we see or hear him either when he's in Parliament or being interviewed you'd never realise that he was Scottish, would you? As soon as he goes north of the border he automatically switches to his original accent as well, doesn't he?

She is American born, but probably lived in the UK as much as in America. She spent some of her childhood in the UK and acquired a British accent to fit in with her peers. I guess as an actress she is a natural mimic, so when surrounded by Brits or Americans, depending where she is, she adjusts her accent accordingly.

Casting my mind back to the very first episode of the X Files, Gillian just continues to be gorgeous. (sigh) 😍 Her facial expressions are her hallmark for me. I have not seen The Crown, but my favorite Anderson performance was in Bleak House. Definitely worth watching if you haven't seen it.
