The sustainability of great music is a real concern in the age of streaming. The only reliable income for most musicians at this point is constant touring. Doesn't leave much time for creating & recording new music. And it is exhausting. Which is why I take every opportunity I can to buy the music, merch & tickets to shows of the people making the music I love. And I still often feel like I am in debt to them.

It's a pity there are not more people like you who realise that you need to support your artists in this way
@johnstinchcomb81563 жыл бұрын
@@parker11965 And now with the pandemic they can't even tour. And it's not only the artists but the venues that host them that are getting crushed right now. So I've been buying merch from my fav local venues as well. I've got quite the mask & shirt collection going. I might even keep wearing the masks when this is all over. Hat, mask & earbuds. Singing to myself while tuning out the world around me. Most days I'd be good with that.

How many times have I fallen in love with an album on first listen and then realized that T Bone Burnett produced it? I can’t put my finger on what he does, but his work has brought me more pleasure from old musical friends and introduced me to more new ones than anyone else I can think of. The only other producer who even comes close for me is Joe Henry, but T Bone! I guess that should be Mr. Burnett to me . . .
@mbsnyderc4 жыл бұрын
What he does is stay out of the way,and tells them what they don't need.other producers would cover this with drums, bass, electric guitars,keyboards, or lap steel and you wouldn't get the feeling of the piece.

Nobody is out of tune! Especially T- Bone. Dave Rawlings is a Master of dissonance , and I believe the great Mr Burnett knows a bit abt That as well. So , plz open ur ears and mind if u love music @all. If u don't understand dissonance, then u prob don't enjoy Dylan, Neil Yoyng, Willie Nelson, I could go on and on. This is REAL music, not over-produced, auto this and that, formulaic. This is real feeling here. Watch the body language o Rawlings; he clearly plays and moves 2 Gillian's.brilliant, distinctive, story-tellin vocals. I predict she will b 2 Americana. Or roots music what Mother Maybelle or Emmylou are. Godmothers, and b4 them obviously. In 1995. I was in a boutique in a remote place in Wisconsin, and the music overhead I had never heard. It was Gillian singiing " Orpan Girl", off "Revival", when her notoriety began. I wasn't the only one who noticed, obviously. I love the sincerety in ppl and musicians as it shines thru here. Thank u Gillian and Dave for giving this lady here boundless joy, feeling, tears, love, and inspiration. Also 4 much 2 share w/ my music friends. Much appreciatin 4 all u do, what u give. What a rare and beautiful thing in a crazy, not so pretty world. Fabulous work by great ppl.

Logos on full display! These guys are soooo exquisitely talented. There’s such a soothing essence within not only their music but, the lyrics as well. It’s just such stupendously stellar writing and art in general. My 3 year old boy loves it as well. Not just that but, there are tunes such as this one, “Airplane” by Dave, “the Weight” from St. Luke’s in London with OCMS and, a great many others. It’s such a pleasurable and deeply connected experience to listen to great music. Thank you.
