Gilbert Arenas and Rashad McCants argue over who the number 1 option is for the Boston Celtics. Rashad thinks it is Jaylen Brown who won the Eastern Conference Finals MVP. He has been scoring the basketball more in the NBA Playoffs. Gilbert explodes saying Jayson Tatum is getting doubled and that is why Brown looks like the best option. Jayson Tatum is the NBA Finals MVP and will be the better player in this final series of 2024.
Gil’s Arena premieres every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11:30am PT / 2:30pm ET.

You never break up a duo like this. They keep knocking at that door enough they eventually gotta let them in. But breaking up the duo doesn’t sound like a bad move either if they don’t take home the Larry O’Brien this season. Because there is no “Imagine what they could’ve been if only they had time to get accustomed to each other and play off each other while they were both still in their prime.” We’ve all had an opportunity to see it. And it’ll never be good enough to get the job done if they can’t do it after a sweep heading into the finals with all that rest. And you’re not even playing the defending champs. You’ll be playing a team that didn’t even make the playoffs last year, or you’ll be playing a team that never made it to the finals ever. It’s a horrible look either way to keep them or break them apart.

So u dont watch the games then ĺike gil is what your saying? Who draws more defenders? Brown...why? Bcuz brown drives to the rim far more often an gets swarmed and they STILL cant stop him. Brown is a better player than tatum. Deal with it.
@Chiguy0415
@Chiguy0415 3 ай бұрын
@@tenelson3 I don’t even necessarily disagree with your conclusion but the logic is silly. Drawing defenders while driving is completely different from being doubled on the catch. The worst player in the league would likely draw defenders when driving, since that means you likely beat your man and helpside will rotate as your man tries to recover. It’s also harder to guard or contain a driving player than it is to trap someone as soon as the ball comes their way. Tatum and a lot of other first options see two defenders as soon as the ball comes their way. That makes it easier for the second option to score, unless the team chooses to double two players (like teams did against Shaq and Kobe, Steph and KD). Brown MIGHT be better, but not because of this logic. Arenas was right.

Tatum has the higher ceiling, but as hes added muscle and height he has had to transition from a traditional 2way SF to a 2 way stretch 4. He plays more like Giannis with a jumper now. Hes legitimately the best defender in the NBA 1-5 now, with the speed and length to stop anyone 1-4, but the strength to defend Bam, Mobley, Turner, Gafford, etc. Brown has hit his prime being an elite 2 way wing. Brown does the intangible things plus a lot of the same things Tatum does. Tatum freezes little more in clutch and Tatum doesn't get doubled all the time. THATS CAP 🧢 AND COP OUT. Tatum game LOOKS BETTER but not necessarily better than Brown. Plus J.B better defender

Tatum has more clutch points and go ahead baskets than brown. And that goes for playoffs and regular season
@tag7376

@@kingjulian3997 last year in playoffs and anytime against Miami I don't see it... Sometimes those clutch ratings numbers from regular season be against bad teams when score close but other team no real threat. FORGET ANALYTICS. With my eyes I see Brown come thru n not be as hesitant, 3 happy or shy during those tough close moments against good teams that are a real threat

A lot of people can’t explain but if you look over the totality of their playoff games and series, Brown has shown up more than Tatum has. Tatum is better by far but Brown’s ability to show up more consistently outshines Tatum’s. When Tatum drops 40+, Brown drops a quiet 20+. When Brown drops 30+, Tatum drops a cool 10-15. Plus Brown defensive tenacity won him finals MVP. It was his defensive ability and consistency on offense

They’re both right. Years ago… Jaylen was handed the keys to the kingdom when he was drafted and the franchise was his ‘birthright’ but then he got injured and Jayson Tatum emerged as that guy we know him to be. Jaylen was always a step behind since then but like a half step. Tatum received all the flowers being someone who will be our guy and the team’s first option which is a role JB had to accept and he thrived in the role of being the number 2. What has changed this playoffs is that while teams are treating JT as the #1, they are giving him that due respect, doubling him, blitzing him, crashing him- and the media loves to shine the light on his performances even though statistically he is doing ‘alright’. Jayson Tatum is evolving and people can’t understand that and this evolution is leading to more wins consistently. Whilst this is taking place, JB is also understanding what’s happening and is seizing the opportunity in single coverage and cooking the lights out of anyone in his way. He has arrived. JB is forcing teams to see how not respecting that fact is ending up like all the others. JB with a killer instinct. Just look at who the Jays practice against is eachother- they have been constantly making eachother better for years and will continue to do so.
