When Odom played in the West during his prime years the power forwards were Tim Duncan, Dirk, Karl Malone, KG, Chris Webber, Pau Gasol, Stat, Elton brand, lamarcus alrdiridge, and Rasheed Wallace. Let’s not act like making the All-Star game in the west as a power forward is an easy accomplishment
@ronharris3411

I thought they were going to be arguing him as a top 10. Your list proves he's clearly not. Him not being an all-star is already a fact. Now, him being good enough to be an all-star seems to be what they are arguing. I think I agree with you and Rashad that L.O. could've been an all-star in different circumstances.
@pradayou5405
@pradayou5405 2 ай бұрын
Rasheed Wallace was in the East when Lamar was with the Lakers, Webber was washed up by the mid 2000s, Malone retired in 04, KG was in the East by 08, Elton Brand was always injured. Odom had plenty of chance but if you actually watched him play instead of relying on highlights then you would know how inconsistent he was. Real Laker fans know that he was an elite role player but never consistent enough to be perennial star. He was like the DLo of the PF position, both extremely talented but both extremely inconsistent. Lamar would have a game where he would put up 19 and 10, and then follow up with a 4 pt/5 reb game with lazy defense.

He simmered his game down to play alongside LeBron and Irving because the stretch 4 was becoming more prominent in the league. No different than when Bosh did the same thing for Wade and LeBron, but people forget he was a walking 20 point double double in Toronto and an all-star/all-league player. Casual ass take.

I almost NEVER agree with McCants lol but I gotta say, I was DIEHARD fan of the Lakers during Lamar's run, so I know his game really well, and based on the skill/performance level he showed (ball handling like a guard, 3 pt shooting, defense, elite rebounding for a PF, played better in big games, and driving to the basket from the 3 without a screen needed) I don't think he gets to Love numbers as a number 1, obviously not rebounding, but Odom only scored 6 points less per 100 possessions during their first 5 seasons, without ever leading his team in shots in his career, and he's WAY BETTER defensively, he could guard 1-5, Love can't really guard any position period, 95% of the league licks their chops when Love is guarding them, but with Odom, as long as it wasn't the speediest guard or the bulkiest center, he didn't struggle with anyone, a little like Durant with how well he moved for being 6'10+ while also not being a super athlete, it's strange, they just have the movement of guys 6'6, and a good rim protector, and 1-1 defender. Personally, if I am trying to win a title and know both are going to be my 3rd best player, ideally, Odom is way better suited. Can take more ball handling duties off the lead creator and run a good offense. He could functionally play 3 positions if you needed him too, and was one of the ultimate glue guys, could impact in ever way imaginable on the court, can't say enough about how good he was.

Brandon never came close to leading the Bucks in rebounding any season he was there. Same for the Pistons. Not the 1st time I've seen lies being told on this show. And as usual on this show Gil is bashing former players. Gil loves to go to the stats for certain players but then dismiss the stats for other players. He's a 🤡 Odom won rings. Kevin Love was averaging 26 and 15. 3rd in the league in scoring. As a 3rd option he averaged 18-19 and 11. That's more than Gasol averaged as a 1st option in Memphis. He lead the wolves to 40 wins. Not good but good enough to make the playoffs in the east. It's just the 8th seed in the west was getting 50 wins. How did Odom even get in this conversation. Odom was nice and great in his role as a 6th man, one of the best in the league. But Love was a beast and low key better than Pau Gasol. Rashad on something, Love was putting up the best rebounding numbers since Wilt. It's just Lebron made him a spot up shooter so he couldn't rebound like that on the Cavs.

Pau was equally good with Kobe in their title runs. LeBron makes his teammates worse, but Love doesn't have the same feat to show as Pau. "Rashad on something" Rashad is on to something here. "Love was putting up the best rebounding numbers since Wilt" Not sure if you're serious here.
