Why do people keep saying butler carried the heat to the finals? In the bubble, dragic was their leading scorer going to the finals (first 3 rounds) while bam was their best player in that Celtics series. Not to mention, butler was the 4th leading scorer in one of those series. Butler went crazy in the finals against lakers (which butler deserves credit for) where dragic and bam were hurt. In their last finals run, he only had a great series against the bucks then in conference finals… Caleb Martin should’ve been finals mvp. When they got to the finals, butler played terrible. The role players, coaching and culture of the heat was the biggest factor.
@thomascrowniii1693Ай бұрын
Horrible take. Throughout all four rounds of the 2020 playoffs, Butler was the heats leading scorer, in totality. In 2020 Jimmy Butler led them in scoring in the Milwaukee series, averaged one point less than Bam in the Conference Finals WHILE also guarding the other teams best player, which Dragic didn't do in any round of the playoffs. So when you consider BOTH ends of the floor Jimmy Butler carried the Heat to the Finals and then went toe to toe with Lebron.
@cantguardhim9927Ай бұрын
@@thomascrowniii1693you just proved my point, you said butler was their leading scorer in “totality” which is misleading since people didn’t actually watch the series or know the context. He had the most total points cuz dragic got hurt and missed games in the finals… if dragic or bam don’t miss games in the finals then they would’ve easily had the most total points. Butler only had it in the finals. On the way to the finals (first 3 rounds)… dragic was the leading ppg scorer. Which is why the whole “butler carried the heat narrative” is dumb cuz it wasn’t even close to the case for 75% of that playoffs.
@thomascrowniii1693Ай бұрын
@@cantguardhim9927 And you just proved my point because you just said that Dragic and Bam missed games and they STILL got to the Finals because Jimmy Butler didn't miss games. And you conveniently left out that Butler ALSO guarded the other teams best scorer, while Dragic was playing no defense when he did play. So the guy who plays EVERY game and plays on BOTH sides of the floor obviously carried the team to the Finals because he's out there every night effecting the game on both ends.
@PennyDiscipleАй бұрын
@@thomascrowniii1693💯
@cantguardhim9927Ай бұрын
@@thomascrowniii1693are you even reading? Bam and dragic missed games IN THE FINALS… Not going TO THE FINALS. You proved my point again that people didn’t watch the series or the playoffs… you literally just lied, the Miami heat led the league in zone defense and played the most zone defense in the league in the playoffs which means guys didn’t guard a man, they played team defense. Not to mention, heat play switch everything defense so even if butler does guard the best player… there’s a high chance he got switched off due to scheme. Bam was their most important defender by a good margin. Also, you said “totality” which means total points. Butler got the most total points cuz bam and dragic got hurt in the finals which caused them to miss games… for 75% of the playoffs, dragic and bam were out scoring butler by a good margin. So butler did NOT carry that team at all.
