You must’ve not watched closely or have amnesia. Mark jackson had elite offensive talent but put them in positions to mediocre(they were average offensively), started david lee over draymond , couldn’t draw up plays in game so he preached outside the huddle while mike malone drew up the plays, michael malone schemed up the good defense they had (per andrew bogut), and the very next year kerr comes in and they have one of the most dynamic offenses ever. I would love to see Klay stay & have it be on a deal that he feels is respectful, but that deal has to be one that allows for other moves to be made. Klay has had 2 full seasons to show he's back to pre injury form & while he's still very much an effective player, it's still been low playoff seeds & early exits, even with him on the roster. So all that lifetime achievement contract stuff is nice, but that team still has pieces that can compete on a high level & financially handcuffing yourself to a (potentially) declining player, just doesn't make a ton of sense
@saucecastillo460
@saucecastillo460 4 ай бұрын
@ispeakfactsbruh I think that's about his market, but if it doesn't allow for flexibility, they're just running it back. @@skproductions8495 well they were talking about him specifically & while I don't think he's finished, if signing him, limits other moves, it might be time to move on. But also, they were on this "lifetime achievement contract" thing, bc of what he's done. And while I'm grateful for his service, with a few tweaks, they can still compete for a title & I don't see the sense in throwing that chance away, for one guy.

@@saucecastillo460 i do feel what ur sayin im js theres other ways around it *if* they want to still give him the bag while remaining competitive. its gonna take some smart moves and like they said going younger (which is cheaper) that might be the way. theres definitely young guys that can do what cp and wigs do for less money. but im personally not a fan of the honorary bag either. i agree on that part. you get paid for what you can do, not what you did. gils example was terrible mark is right its business. just talkin possibilities

Well let's look at what he did for the past contract years.........they gave him a fresh high-end contract knowing that he would not play, so 2 years of FREE MONEY!!......and 3 years of BENCH PLAYER numbers at best.......so going by that, the warriors are GENEROUS with giving him a $50 million contract with a team option!!

That’s what church is for. If I go to work, I don’t want to deal with people praying and having Bible study. If I walk in a church and in the middle of a sermon I started dribbling a basketball, people would look at me like I’m crazy. They would say go to the basketball court for that and they would be right. If you can’t understand that, that is a problem.

Mark Jackson had it right with the Derek Jeter analogy. At some point for the organization it becomes a legacy contract which production wise doesnt make sense for the money. Paying for what someone did and not what they can still do. As opposed to improving at the position for the same or less money.

I totally get what Kmart saying, but you have to understand the dynamic of the team the bench play wasn’t good so him agreeing to come of the bench wasn’t for a sign of him not being the same caliber player as a starter it was to balance the drop off from the 1st unit to the 2nd unit and Klay being a team first type of guy he agreed plus it guaranteed he would get more shots up but the man got his minutes and finished every game with the starting 5. That was also playing into Klay’s favor by average starter points coming off the bench

Jack changed the culture of my team( I’m from Oakland) and empowered the young players! Made free agents wanna come to the Bay ( Iggy came for Jackson)! The Warriors had three things hamstringing them! 1. David Lee was being paid boat loads of money and was an ex Knick So Mark had a soft spot for his non defense playing ass. 2. Andrew Bogut and Festus Ezeli were out for the season in 14! They beat Clips if they had their centers. 3. The bench needed to be upgraded. It was the next year. Mark Jackson didn’t have Shaun Livingston, Leandro Barbosa and a Healthy Festus that last season! … btw, Draymond in Marks’ last game was 24 and 7 with 5 3’s made! They were figuring it out!
