Hey nurk! Saw you at drl today but didn't have much time to talk about everything I wanted. One thing I do want to mention though is something called gravgrip. It's a hydraulic powered camera leveler and is meant to be used in combination with an EIS. What's interesting about it is that it doesn't use any motors/batteries. It only weighs 70 grams and makes sense for use with something like an action camera, but it will not lift a bigger cine cam like the one in your video. I think it would be interesting if you tested it out though and compared it to something like a hand held traditional motor gimbal and can replace putting a mavic on your quad xD

A 2nd operator just for the gimbal is mindblowing to me, I don't know much about the cinematic-side of fpv but damn what a cool idea!

That's actually a really good idea to have the second person control the gimbal. Hmm gives me an idea, you could have your kid be a co-pilot, like 3d print an r2d2 character that rides along and can swivel so they have their own remote and goggles to view what the character sees.

Funnily enough, I've been doing this on a much budget way. Just been strapping the gopro 9 I already had on the cold shoe of my Canon M50, and using your previous tutorial for Gyroflow, I've been getting some awesome results....as long as I shot in 1080. The second I tried 4k, the crop in factor of the Canon made Gyroflow go nuts
@NURKFPV2 жыл бұрын
you probably need to do another lens calibration for the 4k

From my experience, warp stab always fail when we enter a tight gap. It seems like the algorithm is confused where to stabilize, and the footage will look like they zoom in and out like crazy

This is awesome, really a great idea. Makes me wonder though, can you use a non-proprietary, smaller/lighter gyro instead of the gopro? Since you're not using the camera for the footage and only the gyro data, could really save a ton of weight, especially if you can power it from a 5v lead. If that's even a thing, I don't know, just speculating - but I can think of at least a few use-cases where this would be beneficial outside of this use-case. Also, good to see you Winston! Cheers 🍻

Experience with Stabilized Remote Heads in general and the larger R2 specifically, leads to belief that the RS2 is hitting hard stops at the extremes of its left/ right sway. Suggest stiffening the vibration isolator at the base to feather those stops. (Over-slung head requires more vibration isolator stiffening than under, due to weight of rig added at pendulum extremes instead of subtracted.). Common cheat to stiffen is to stuff foam in the gap if there is one. Worth a try, By addressing the basic mechanical issue first, you may be able to reduce the work needed by the digital stabilizing. That may allow even better results from a purer image. My humble 2 cents.

Once processing the footage through Gyro flow, you should take the footage into Davinci resolve and apply translation stabilization. Doing that will give you such a perfectly smooth video it’s not even funny. I’ve done this before with incredible results!

Impressive. Nurk, would you get any benefit if you de-warped the plates first, before running them through GF? If you knew the crop % from GF, you should be able to re-apply the lens distortion from a cropped grid.

Hey Nurk really sweet build you got there. I understoot that you are useing the 2nd airunit because of the high latency of Other methods. The Problem with that is you loose the ability for Winston to change camera settings during flight without takeing of the goggles. Do you know the latency of the hdmi output of your recording camera? Maybe this is an oppotunity for the more community oriented Digital fpv Systems hdzero and walksnail to give us an hdmi in vtx!? What do you think?

I wonder how much of those jitters is to blame on the moneyshot its not the smoothest flying beast, I have a similar 12s 10inch rig and can properly send it and don't get any of those jitters on my rs2 komodo rig! Not convinced that the gimble is the thing at fault until you get up to around 100kmph, I think much of your wobbles your'e experiencing could be tuned out with the drone. then ontop of that you need to get the tilta brace mount plate to stiffen up the gimble massively.
@NURKFPV2 жыл бұрын
I think the tilta brace is the biggest key here. Drone actually flies awesome with it on there.. but most of the rigidity issues are with the gimbal. I actually filmed this video 6 months back. Have learned a lot since, but I still liked the concept of the combo

No good, by extending the camera so far from the center of the drone. You have( for all intents and purposes) Built a load arm. Which means for every little angular change the drone goes through, the camera goes through much larger angular changes. And you add the mass, and you have created a stabilizer eating machine. Can you redesign the drone so that the camera is located between two of the propeller systems ? Because right now, you're working against physics, and it will only get worse as the vibrations will shake the stabilizer equipment apart.
@GreenMachineOG2 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting concept, to have a set of props above and below the camera. I feel like the issue tho would be the top props being visible in frame as the drone tilts forward to gain speed.
@Black-ice_fpv2 жыл бұрын
If i could creat that machine, I would make one to stand on and fly away......Im waiting for you to create a drone to levitate with human cargo on board....im thinking you do , but the world aint ready yet
