Live in Scarborough now North shore. What a GENIUS idea it was for someone to invest in the old cliff tramway into an indoor cafe does really well in the winter months with soups etc and great location and low running costs really great idea that.

Myself and wife visited a couple of years ago and loved it, it's a working fishing harbour and rather than pay the expensive stall prices for dressed crab I had a walk down to the guys loading huge bags of live red eating crabs.. Got two massive crabs for a fiver off a very helpful fork lift truck driver... Made lovely eating when we cooked them back at our holiday cottage 😊

What a delightful surprise to see a video of Scarborough on my Birthday! I would always visit this seaside wonder around my birthday the ten years living in England. It's one of favourite places to have a wander around and of course riding on top of the double decker bus too! I will never forget my adult children and friend coming to visit across the big pond. Of course I had to show them off Scarborough. It was a windy, rainy, chilly day, but they loved riding near the sea on an double decker, and of course fish and chips, what memories! Thanks for invite Neil, it made my birthday even better! :)

The mysterious round building, is actually a water pumping station to control the discharge of waste water into the North Sea. I understand there is a holding tank beneath to hold the waste water during stormy weather so it doesn't all end up back on the beach, I guess!
@GimbalWalkTV2 жыл бұрын
Ah thank you! Hope it goes right out to sea and not just straight back onto the beach!

You say about The Grand Hotel….”all I will say is check the reviews before booking”…I work at The Grand and enjoy my years there, we are getting good reviews and the hotel is under refurbishment which people tend to forget.
@GimbalWalkTV2 жыл бұрын
It is being refurbished yes but you have to admit recent years haven’t been the best in terms of reviews I’ve had mixed experiences One time in a seafront room at the top which is fantastic but another in a cellar which was horrific
@kelvinallen26242 жыл бұрын
Sadly many people don’t know the history of the building, I’m finding areas, bricked up rooms I never knew existed. The ‘cellar’ as you call it were never meant to house holiday makers. Butlins did more damage to this building than Britannia. I enjoy your videos, they are certainly better produced than the other guy who thought the Spa Chalet was a disused railway station.

I’ve visited Scarborough for many years, probably about sixty or more. My aunt and uncle had a static caravan at Cayton Bay and then when they retired they bought a house their on California Drive between Scarborough and Cayton Bay. The round building on the marine drive is part of the system for taking waste water out to sea to prevent flooding I believe.

The deterioration of the South Bay front is nothing short of upsetting. How long has it taken them to do anything with that Futurist site? Really jarring to see Blands Cliff from the beach. The arcades still have the buntin they were using for the 2012 Golden Jubilee!

Excellent choice of music to go with a very nice tour of Scarborough sea front. you kept the camera very steady by the way. I have always loved Scarborough and still do. Its such a shame about the Grand hotel, The Royal is a better option but still a bit ropey, Brittania hotels group has a lot to answer for. Still love good old Scarborough and always will.

While the sea front is great the town centre is in decline - many retail units closed replaced with charity shops and mobility centres. Hi. I hate to be rude but this is not a video you recorded yesterday. I got home from a week away there yesterday and I can tell you how I know. 1 There was no observation wheel and golf course (where you mentioned futurist theatre used to be) and that was demolished in 2018 and the wheel erected in 2019. 2 There was a large pink rock shop where one stop and a store named home by Helen now is. 3 It also showed a store formally called “the shed” as open and thriving.. which has been closed quite a while. 4 Pizza express is no longer there, 5 next to the tardis is a penguin statue and lastly there is temporary railings blocking part of the lighthouse edge off which is not in the videos. It’s a good video but please don’t try to deceive your viewers.

We went to Scarborough for a week in February i was shocked to see everything closed on the sea front even the one arcade that is there was closed 😳 it was dead everywhere like a ghost town, we used to go when i was a young child in the 80’s and it was a bustling place, now it just seems so run down it needs a lot of money spending on it ! The town centre was ok but thats about it ! We wont be returning to Scarborough again !!

You'll be back, the charm, the character, it's like a magnet! Where else can you wander along a serene, peaceful seafront road with just sea, sand n cliffs, hotels high above, round a headland and find a complete contrast, hustle and bustle, amusements and arcades, chip shops, ice cream n candy floss parlours? Like two separate resorts, unique and steeped in history. It's great!
