I have seen these buttons on Pinterest and have been trying to work out the method. You have answered a couple of things I was puzzled about. I am going to try and adapt the method to make something bigger for Christmas ornaments. Thank you for a great tutorial. 😊

How are they attached to clothing? Beautiful.

The traditional way is to simply stitch them on using a thread shank (so the sewing thread comes up over the threads at the centre. However, with modern designs, there are other options. I've made a couple of videos that show just some of the options - Woven Loop shank - kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4SrmKqeqaqihtE How to sew on a Dorset button (which will work for this) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZ6olItsp7iIms0 And button backs (a previous live feed) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJqbkGp6hZWcqLc

Beautiful. Can these actually be used as a button on a sweater?
@GinaBSilkworksАй бұрын
Thank you. Yes, so long as you use a washable ring and washable threads. Make sure the threads are well secured at the back. I'd always recommend hand washing for complex thread buttons, they take time and deserve gently care.

Oh dear Gina, I don't think I have the proper meds for this one. I'll have to come back after some practice on some simpler buttons!

Thank you for this tutorial. May I ask what size thread you are using? I have your Yorkshire and Dorset books, now I'm going to need this one! 😂

I used a No 8 perle cotton here, while the green and blue version I show at the end, I used a 12 weight cotton thread. This book does use No 8 perle in the examples as well.
