Great reaction👍, the song was originally from the French singer/composer Claude François "Comme d'habitude". Then the lyrics were translated in english by Canadian singer/composer Paul Anka for Frank Sinatra. It was then covered by Elvis Presley, The Sex Pistols and many other singers including here Ginette Reno who's from the french speaking province of Québec in Canada, just like Céline Dion. Cheers from Montréal, Québec, Canada 😁🇲🇶🇨🇦🇲🇶😁

Hello *JAR,* The original version by *Claude François* *"Comme d'habitude"* in *1967* (my birthday year) has always had my preference. *Claude François* also worked on writing the lyrics. Because they were talking about his own story. But also and above all, because precisely, when he sang it in the "scopitone" (the ancestor of the video clip) of the time, he saw at the same time in his real personal life this drama of incommunicability in the couple he then formed with the other icon of French song at the time, France Gall. This song talks about their bad romance. About what they live at the moment. It's to her he speaks. In this scopitone, specific images and certain intonations of his voice show so much of what he feels. Contrary then to the American jazz-swing and rather "symphonic" adaptation of Paul Anka sung by Franck Sinatra, who popularized this song all over the world, the original version of Claude François fits perfectly into the soul music of *Aretha Franklin,* *Otis Redding* or *Al Greene.* The orchestration is very different because the original French lyrics don't express the same feeling (for *"My Way"* the balance sheet of life) as those of Paul Anka's adaptation. Under the same nickname *(Lets Chill Page),* on the *Lyrics Translate* website, I published a poetic, rhyming, and metered translation (same number of feet in the rhymes so that we can sing it). The 1967 scopitone (KZbin link, actually) is also available at the bottom of this translation page. I'd love for you to react to this version. I'm sure you'll like it a lot. Sorry for the pad (long text). I thought it was important to explain. Above all, don't change anything; stay as you are; always spontaneous. That's how we love you! Thanks a lot anyway.

she said she will be imagining that she is him singing the song and ~leaning/counting on~ his emotions. He has been in showbizz in the stand-up comic genre, and in tv comedy slap stick'y and later in super serious roles where he was a mafia guy i think. Claude Blanchard. He did 'cabaret' types of show and on and on. Everybody knew him internationally as far a say Quebec city

ginette reno is not only a great artist but also an embarrassing woman and she adores her fans! She has an extraordinary voice and it is moreover she who should have had an international career in place of celine dion. But shortly before signing Celine ... we had offered the same contract to Ginette. who refused at the time for different reasons. despite all, she continues to give us beautiful music!

well Frank Sinatra was more the type of person having lived his life his way, i mean having 15 wives, fraying with the Vegas mafia, descending into heavy drinking, that's pretty myway right there, oh yes now i remember the Claude Francois is about a married couple having fallen in routine but at the end you understand he loves her as much as on the first day, it's a retournement de situation.

Jacques Revaux, who wishes to work with Claude François, presents it to him in his mill in Dannemois on August 27, 1967. The two men then rework the song by the swimming pool in the company of the lyricist Gilles Thibaut. The text is thus reworked by Claude François who adds to it the theme of the daily life of a couple who are breaking up, thus summarizing their recent sentimental break with France Gall. It also proposes to introduce a chorus-bridge (change of tempo and instrumentation more conducive to vocal effects). It is on this concept that the lyricist Gilles Thibaut finishes the text of what becomes Comme d'habitude. So here is Comme d'habitude with France Gall pictured. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnjFnZ1ujN1-bc0
