Wow ! Finally someone who is reacting to this masterpiece ! This is so rare ! Glad you loved it and that you were moved listening to it. This is such a special performance that in my opinion, even if you don't speak French, you're moved by what you hear and what you see. It is, in my opinion, one of the highlight performance of Céline's entire career.

16 years ago, on 22 August 2008 Dion celebrated Quebec City's 400th birthday with special concert on the historic Plains of Abraham. She personally chose all of the special guest performers for her show. The list of Quebec artists scheduled to perform included: Garou, Marc Dupré, Nanette Workman, Dan Bigras, Mes Aïeux, the Dion family, Zachary Richard, Éric Lapointe, Claude Dubois, Jean-Pierre Ferland and Ginette Reno. Dion and invited artists performed over thirty songs in front of 250,000 spectators. The entire concert is available on YT. A special treat is a performance with her family. As you might know, Céline is the youngest of 14 children. So all 14 of them perform several Canadian folk songs. This song you reacted to (thank you!) was a cherry on top. It was the last song, and everyone waited for Ginette. It is indeed one of the best live performances I have ever seen.

This was a breakup song when JP wrote it but it became an unofficial national anthem for the province when Ginette sang it at the fête nationale holiday concert in 75. You should check out that version, it's gorgeous. A note about the translation, they tend to translate monde as world, true but here we're really saying monde as the people 🙏💜

Love the fact you reacted to this - not many people do! So Rene, Celine's husband and manager, was Ginette's manager. He wanted her to expand her career to overseas, not just Quebec. Ginette didn't want that. So Ginette ended things with Rene. He was close to quitting the industry. Celine's demo went to Ginette's manager from looking at the back of her record. So without Ginette's career, there wouldn't be (at least the Celine we know!) Celine, Celine wouldn't have had the exact career she's had, she wouldn't have met Rene, and therefore wouldn't have her marriage or kids either. On top of that, performing for Quebec's birthday celebration etc - very emotional for Celine! :)

Not anymore and it's a good thing to share our treasure with the rest of the world. I'm from Québec city we are fans. The crowd didn't know that Ginette was there... so you've seen a genuine reaction from the crowd. Ginette is deeply loved by the people of the Province of Québec.

@Radio She definitely is.@@LouismarieBelanger I'm from Québec (my last name is Charest, lol) and I lived in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures (which is technically part of Quebec City), in the past, for about 4 years, so I know. ;)

I don’t remember if it was free but it wasn’t expensive for sure because it was for the 400 anniversary of Québec… A lot of people could not attend so I remember that night the show was broadcasted on the radio . It was In 2008 and I can still tell you where I was and what I was doing ! Haha It was a memorable time for Québec. The show was Céline singing duet with popular singers from here.

I've seen this young 12 year old Céline's progression over the years with total amazement, but growing up and hearing Ginette in the early 60's has caught my attended ears ever since. Both artists sing with feelings in their songs, brings their every all on stage with each performances and voices. And of course, when coupled with Jean-Pierre writing's talent, his pen lets us feel his heartfelt songs, well only magic can come from it all when they meet at centre stage. Great Reaction young man! Cheers! P.S. You like heartfelt songs. Check out Johnny Hallyday and Lara Fabian duet "Requiem Pour Un Fou" -kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIOUo56qlJWVn6M&ab_channel=KuzcoPacha
