My take, for anyone wondering... and regarding her "Satanic" voice: If you were a selfless fish (Pisces) who wanted to see the world but was a bit skittish, and then got into the nets and was hooked by handsome butchers who proceed to rip away your scales and entrails (emeralds)... you'd growl too! So you see, sometimes the lyrics call for extreme vocals in a song. Tatiana (who's not singing as someone possessed, so you can toss the garlic back into the spaghetti sauce) wrote an incredible story and sang about it the way it deserved to be sung... as with most of her songs. Some vocalist just keep singing in their nice and charming voice even when the lyrics call out desperation. Not so with Tati. Her extreme expression - a rare ability - adds so much more to a song... especially if you follow the music with the lyrics and how the beautiful cacophony tells the story.

She chooses one part or the other when doing it live, from what I've seen, she usually chooses the growling version, but this with the high belt solo is just priceless! Golden! Fire!

I think that growl is her tomboy side coming out. :) When she was 15 she was introduced to Otep, was shocked to find out Otep is a woman and inspired to shock other people. 18 years later, here we are. They've been releasing a bunch of new stuff that is fire, a lot of it from a performance in Melbourne just before the pandemic locked everything down. Teacher Teacher is one of their most popular songs and the live in Melbourne video is great. Sit Stay Roll Over is one of their most aggressive, and the live in Melbourne goes even lower than she went in this song. The one-take performance of Judgement & Punishment is extremely impressive too. And that's just the stuff in the last month or so! :D

Part of the reason for how the different parts contrast each other is because Pisces is the symbol with two fish facing opposite directions and is meant to represent duality. Enjoyed the reaction

One of the symbols for Pisces are two fish facing in opposite directions, similar to the yin and yang symbol, so the song features a lot of symbolism of duality and aquatic references too. Definitely check her lyrics out, since almost all the songs have a meaning, some being metaphorical or with a double meaning, some others being very straight forward. The song is about duality. Tatiana is a Pisces, the astronomical sign for duality, which is represented by twin fish. It's about the duality in her life and in her personality. That's also why the song progresses from melodic and mellow to almost violently heavy and back again.

Despite all the recommendations....in my opinion no other Jinjer song has the shock value of Pisces. No other song has the combination of intricacy & power of teacher, teacher this is why these are my two favourite Jinjer songs.. The musicians are beyond the level of merely a "death metal" band...these guys can fit in a Jazz setting on a dime, most metal musicians may not possess that kind of nuance in their repertoire...

The first time I saw the Pieces video, I almost could not believe it, I had to listen to the song 5 times in a row, It was love at first growl, I then started listened to about every song of theirs featured on KZbin. I then had my son order their album Macro on CD . There so much talent in The musicianship of this band. The crowning glory is Tatiana, how so much beauty, sweetness and sheer power is in that petite frame is amazing.
