loved this format. much more instructive than blitz as you really have time to explain your thought process. And the after game analysis was great too

Haven't seen this yet but it's a great idea, you almost never get to see any players at this level playing classical time controls online.
@timpriest5937 жыл бұрын
Haha, internet blitz has had such an influence on our game that we now think of 15+10 as a 'classical' time control :)

Aleph Null If you are looking for this then I'd strongly recommend checking out John Bartholomew if you haven't already
@alephnull40447 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm subscribed to him, he does make good classical time control videos occasionally, but as he says it is hard for him to find strong opponents (he usually ends up thrashing them). This is GM vs IM in 15+10 online which is extremely rare to see on KZbin.

Very educational! The final discussion between two high level players is always helpful for us aficionados to learn a bit how to analize a game. Thank you Simon Williams, keep uploading this kind of videos, combined with some blitz every now and then

Incredible game from both players, very instructive! Amazed Simon can play to this level while commentating. Very enjoyable. 55. Be2 the only blunder according to analysis (white focused on keeping knight away from b-pawn)... white wins with 55. Be8(!) keeping his king out of c6. Black's only move then is to move the knight...which allows your king to b7 and then run the a-pawn!

it would be helpful to make your mouse arrow quite a bit larger so when you say "Ill put the bishop here, here, and then here" it will be easier to follow your thought process and the squares you are refering to when your mouse arrow is more visible on my screen

Congratulation on providing an exciting game, Simon. This is a much better time limit for instructional purposes than the more superficial 3-minute blitz. However, the necessity of providing a commentary means that you are still likely to be up against it timewise. If you could arrange a game for, say, 30 minutes for each player, with maybe an added increment, it would give you more time to work out the tactical variations and endgame subtleties. I appreciate, though, that it might be difficult to arrange such a game against an opponent who could be trusted not to cheat. Perhaps one of your mates would oblige (?) One final thing: although sharp openings with tactical complications are exciting to watch, many club games involve stodgy manoeuvring where neither player is quite sure where to place their pieces when presented with several plausible continuations. Perhaps a more closed opening position leading to manoeuvring behind the lines might ultimately be even more instructive than the Tal-like fireworks. Anyway, well done.
