I made a video on how to start, finish and unpick coverstitching (it's long, but I think it might be a bit useful - at least I hoped so 😉) x

Another great video Alex. Just wondering if you could do a video using a coverstitch to make pintucks. Love your videos. 👍

Thank you Eileen 😊 it's a good idea so hopefully I will make the video soonish (I can't record a coverstitch video at the moment because my sewing room is being rearranged but it's going to be back to normal soon)

Thank you Laura 😁 when I edited the video I understood (for the first time) what Hedgehubby means when he says I look as if I were chased by a bear when I sew 🤣 I kind of do 🤣🤣🤣

Nice pockets😉 and I love the colour of the ribbing 🙂. (I can see you are standing now 😂)

Thank you 😊 I always coverstitch standing up (unfortunately, the tripod and the lights need to stand next to me for videos, which leaves some 4" of floor space for me 🤣)

Great video and yes I am going to watch the binding one too as I have just got a binder. I noticed your stitch length is at 4, do you often use 4 I have the MC 1500 and love it so just trying to get info on stitch length. Man y thanks
@GingerheadCo4 жыл бұрын
I often use 4, I like the look of the longer stitch and I often sew with heavier fabric where longer stitches work better (for thinner fabric I use 3 but I hardly ever use stitch length smaller than that )

Hi Alex, thank you for your videos, they're very informative. I have a question, why are you using the overlocker first and then the coverstitch instead of only using the coverstitch? Thank you in advance for clarifying this for me!
@GingerheadCo3 жыл бұрын
I don’t always overlock but for anything that is my sportswear or leisurewear, anything that is heavier weight I prefer to overlock to make the seam stronger and thicker. If I don’t overlock I would still baste and flip because I am not a fan of raw edges (you can see raw edges under the lines of stitching, it’s covered on the wrong side, especially if you use woolly nylon- but the top would only have lines of stitching so you could see raw edges underneath) I also flip without basting but it’s more difficult and I need far more practice so basting is simply faster (I’m not sure if I explained it well, it’s always difficult to explain without pictures) But my point is: you don’t have to overlock, it’s a question of choice 😊
@saramanzoni81183 жыл бұрын
@@GingerheadCo you actually explained it really well! Thank you! Have you ever made activewear? Like leggings and sports bras? (I'm asking because I didn't see them on your channel but you're so fit, so I'm guessing you might have made some 😊)
@GingerheadCo3 жыл бұрын
@@saramanzoni8118 thank you 😊 I make all my gym wear (leggings and tops) but have never made videos with them - they are not sophisticated or elaborate, just simple leggings and tank tops (I’ve made a sports bra only once as I don’t wear them - but it was also self drafted so I’m not sure if anyone would be interested)

@@GingerheadCo sorry for the super late reply 😅 yes, I'd love to see how you make leggings with the coverstitch and other things too 😊

Did you use the overlocker to attach the back?

Yes, all the construction seams are overlocker seams 😊 shouldn't you be in bed Nancy? 😘
