Thank you so much! I’m waiting to come home from living in Australia for 19 years. I was born in Edinburgh, moved to Dunfermline at 19 and I can’t wait to get back to Fife which feels more like home to me than anywhere. What a great video! I’ve been watching them all. Love your down to earth vibe with lots of great little snippets of history thrown in. Keep it up! ❤

😂Thank you gingerman. I lived in Dunfermine for 4 years late 90s. Now I live in South Korea. I really want to go back to Dunfermline for a holiday. I used to go high street for chat with friend and sandwiches with tea. You remind me of the time over there. Pitencriff ? Park, M&S, and Garvockhouse hotel dinner there.

The viaduct once carried the railway line from Stirling to Dunfermline. Where you stood at the footbridge would have been the line. There was a station "Dunfermline Upper" where the Carnegie Retail park sits now. Joined the Fife Circle near Halbeath. Line closed in the late 60s. Oh and you can never have enough Baynes!! Other bakers are available of course!!

The peahens were a fair distance from the glen. Were they looking for a Bains too?😁

I'm old enough to remember when that line was open. Trains would go from Dunfermline lower, now Dunfermline Town, branch off at the Junction at the bottom of Gravick Hill at the Touch end and then go towards the upper Station past East End Park. The Upper atation was where the Sherrif court is now. The car park at East End Park was where tye railway and engine sheds were. You could get trains from the Upper to Alloa and Glasgow

Hey mate, great vlog as usual! Not like all the other channels that give no info lol. I liked your detailed commentary, so thank you🤗 partner and I are thinking of moving to DF next year- in your opinion (as you grew up there) what parts of town are the best / most safe places to live?? Are there areas to avoid? Not much info online, so any advice is greatly appreciated! 😁 Also is Dunfermline a good place to even live? - maybe I should have ran with that?!🤣🤣 Again, thank you and can't wait for the next vlog 🙌🌟

You keep saying ‘now a city’ - it was always a city. I don’t know where the nonsense it had suddenly been given city status came from.
@GingerManWithACam7 ай бұрын
😂 got given city status in 2022.
@mrfluffyminstrel7 ай бұрын
@@GingerManWithACam don’t know what you’re laughing about - it was a city long before that. I had an argument with my partner in about 2001/2002 as he said it was a city and I disagreed. Called the Dunfermline tourist board and they confirmed city at that point. Shortly afterwards, all the signs into Dunfermline stated ‘welcome to the city of Dunfermline’. How could it possibly be the ancient capital of Scotland and NOT be a city? EDIT but you know what, I can’t find any evidence whatsoever! But I know with 100% certainty, Dunfermline had city signs up long before being officially bestowed the title. I wish I’d kept a record now!
@GingerManWithACam7 ай бұрын
@mrfluffyminstrel yeah i remember the signs, but still wasn't an official modern-day city then. I'm sure there was an explanation for the sign. I was laughing cause you used the word nonsense. Ancient history does not apply to modern day.
@mrfluffyminstrel7 ай бұрын
@@GingerManWithACam I’ve found my evidence - it was considered a city until 1439. I believe there has been confusion over the years regarding Dunfermline status. After all, royal assent is not the only route to being classed as a city. I think that’s why I’ve been annoyed by the recent assent - royal publicity stunts do not impress me - however, that is purely a personal opinion. Aye, I could have used a better word than nonsense 🤣
