I love side kicks, very useful and applicable both for combat sports as well as for self-defense purposes and scenarios.

One of the biggest thing you did not cover ( but you have great technique ) is the planted foot ( foot on the ground) which should be 180 degrees facing rear, this is one of the most important aspects , the hip movement from 90 to 180 degree creates significant power and bio mechaniclly aligns the body on impact to creat a solid stance and allows equal and opposite reaction force to balance kick plus reduces stress on the body and hips and allows speed.

I do see he teaches to have the toes lower than the heel. I was taught to turn the foot down even more. There are good reasons for this. Such as threading a guard and more power.
@GingerNinjaTrickster4 жыл бұрын
Problem going lower means that the hip turns down and you favour the heel a bit too much so it’s easier to pass around to your back side 👍
@grabir014 жыл бұрын
@@GingerNinjaTrickster Favoring the heel is a good thing. :)
@GingerNinjaTrickster4 жыл бұрын
@@grabir01 depends if it hinders your alignment. Leading with the heal is good if you have correct position. What your saying though will favour one side of the opponents body more, hence being more prone to a counter. Advantages and disadvantages 👍

I love to use those side kicks to attack my opponent in an street fight, making targets on their waist. Is that a good attack?? Greetings from Mexico.
@lomachenkorpg4 жыл бұрын
One of the best because it's very hard to counter it as a non taekwondo experienced fighter and the chances of fighting one on the streets are extremely low, but to be effective you have to master it, try to study solovey vitaliy and julio carlos, they have the best side kicks
