Erick Sanchez when I went to UTI two of the cars they had in the hot rod course were a new edge mustang and a GTI for that exact reason. Mess around with fuel and spark timing in tiny increments and you could really see the results. All without ever needing so much as a screwdriver.

It's looking awesome, one minor detail I noticed is that you have the water feed and return lines off the water neck to the water pump which is sucking water only and not expelling. I would have the water feed coming off the head where the front thermostat housing used to bolt to.

yup. i seen that too. The water won't circulate with how it's setup. The inlet and outlet need to be at opposite ends of the water pump. Not both right after it, or before it, as shown here.

The engine displacement number in TunerStudio is only used to calculated the Required Fuel value. Doesn't really matter if it was set to 2000cc as long as your reqfuel and ve table are tuned to give you good afrs.

When you DO go for a proper tune, change the settings in tunerstudio to reflect the actual displacement and multiply your fuel map by a correction factor as a starting point. I think your instincts are correct to keep your incorrect displacement and current fuel map for now. Every complication and change you make to a previously running car just makes it that much harder to diagnose.

It said "Spark mode: 4G63", which is a Lan EVO engine. The 2 litre is probably because it's boosted. The basic function of forced induction is increasing combustion volume without changing engine displacement.

Yes, but when you do the basic ecu setup it bases calculations on actual static displacement, so you need to give it actual details

Have you any plans for the old turbo engine? An idea for another build to add to the channel could be another mx5. possibly an nb instead of another na and swap in the molly’s old engine. Would make an ideal track car that you can rag around and not care about as much as you’re other na gems. I’m only suggesting this because it would seem a bit of a waste to not use the 200 ish hp motor. Anyway, if by any chance your read this gingium.. I f***ing love your channel and you deserve way more subs for the quality of both your content and car builds. Peace brother ✌️

If you keep having slave cylinders fail, theyre really easy to rebuild in my experience My rx7 slave cyl the piston inside pops out and I just get another o-ring at oriellys for a dollar

I was told by someone on a previous video a year or two ago that it would be cramped but I got one anyway (I’m as tall as you maybe minus or plus a inch or two) and really it’s not that bad to me imo even with stocks seats of course it’s cramped compared to say a big sedan or suv/truck but it’s bigger on the inside than it looks especially if you were to slide the seat all the way back (I don’t even have to have it all the way back) I’ve figured out from owning one and my only other car is a is300 which is auto and a miata imo at least stock vs stock is a way more fun car to me because I got it to learn manual better and I don’t regret it at all I got mine for 2k and only pay $70 for insurance every month. Only thing I will say is just know (unless you buy a late gen NB or NC or a low miles NA) that you’re getting into a old car that’s gonna have it’s fair share of problems (given mines a 91) and I didn’t want something that was perfect anyway so I wouldn’t feel bad if I modded anything. Hoped this help if I missed anything feel free to ask again

He did go to some kind of automotive study (he did not finish it), but this is most out of experience.

If I remember correctly, he went to college for either a semester or a year and dropped out (may not be 100% accurate). However, I do remember him saying he met Audrey at the student orientation for the school. As far as mechanical knowledge everything he knows is through experience. Try going back to some really old videos when he first got Molly; you can really see how much he's progressed. The first time he really progressed was when he was working on the rx7 and then probably his biggest progression in terms of skill was the drift truck and the 2nd stage of the lifted miata.

@@simonking1122 it isn't arbitrary, doesn't matter for injector size. If you have an ECU that actual uses speed density (not sure megasquirt actually does this) then the actual stoichiometric ratio matters and you wouldn't just blindly add percentages to the VE table. If you put in data for the new injectors, the ECU will have already scaled the fueling for that, so that doesn't automatically give him more fuel.

Had we kept the pipeline trump helped establish it would've been better for the enviornment than hauling a bunch of gasoline overseas but obviously Biden doesn't give a crap about the enviornment. The only uses that as an act to get votes. All he cares about is power and wealth. Trump on the other hand actually was for the people... That is not how you adjust the idle. Go to can/bus idle air and run the test. You are telling the ecu the max and min of the iacv. Once the ecu knows these values it can use it accordingly. If you adjust the screw you need to redo the test. Play with the numbers and get the min by going as low as it can before it dies or stops going lower. Than same for the higher rpm capture the number where idle stops climbing.

Hey bro don't get scared off trying to tune this just because it's high comp while it's not an ideal engine to learn on if you keep timing conservative there would be nothing stopping you from ajusting fuel, based on that fact the ve table and injection properties were set incorrectly, personally I would "start again" and tune for 93 first and then use the flex scaling for E85. If it's something that interests you be sure to check out hpacadamy.com they have a course for ms3 along with understanding afr and lots of other information, this might be a good content creation tool for you but could also be costly as tuning can be very time consuming, looking forward to hearing her rip for the friar time and seeing some dyno numbers.

A non interference engine jumping timing can cause preignition and/or detonation and a lean condition that could over heat the head and cause the cams to seize. Also Losing a belt can cause the cams to seize from oil starvation. 🤡
