It is so good to hear Gino Vannelli sounding as good in 2023 as he did back in the 1970's. Think of that! How many singers can you think of who sound this vibrant and strong in their 70's? Not too many. Back in the mid 1970's when I was doing an entertainment program for an Ottawa radio station, I interviewed Gino backstage after a concert. He was at the 'rock star' phase of his career with a gorgeous girl draped over his right shoulder and another one draped over the left one. He was humble, personable and gracious. " A regular guy rock star. Quite a feat considering all the temptations of fame.

I'm also 60 and I couldn't listen to his music enough in the late 70s. Best male vocalist of all time IMO. Saw him in concert at Harrahs in New Orleans back around 2010 or so. He always has the greatest drummers.

"Brother to Brother" is still my favorite Gino Vannelli album and the title track is one of my top 10 songs of any genre of all time!!! Having the great Damian Erskine on bass is a huge plus!!!

I'm a Canadian musician and Gino was as hot as it gets back in the late 70's and early 80's.Since then he has dropped out of the limelight a bit but still performs at the highest level with a band of top shelf musicians.If ever you need a sample of his work,listen to his 'Brother to Brother' album released in 1978. It is a proverbial clinic for every instrument that was played on those sessions.He might not have the Grammys that he deserves but he's a Canadian treasure. So glad he is going back on tour.

Gino Vannelli has been in my playlist ever since hearing him for the first time on the radio in the late 70’s, I remember immediately digging his sound, I think his brother was in the band, everyone involved in the band was/is tight, and Gino’s voice is awesome, dude has a lot of soul, I still have all his vinyl records, and still play them…thanks Gino for all the listening pleasure 👏🏽

Hello Brother G, The last thing you said in this clip defines my life…….. The wheels turn effortlessly to get you to where you’re going!!! Oh there’s obstacles to be sure…. But the point you made remains true! Any obstacle can do nothing but “ DEFINE “ the importance of your blessing!!!! Once a man knows his path…. His calling…… even facing a firing squad…….. is LAUGHABLE!!!!!! I found you Mr. Vannelli when I turned 20 years old…….. that was in 1976….!! PERFECT TIMING….. THE GIST OF THE GEMINI SEARED MY SOUL!! I HAD THAT 8 -Track on repeat!!! I think I played the ever loving BIAS OFF THAT TAPE!! Knew every song by heart… of course: “ NEW FIX FOR 76 ” was my anthem in 1976. !!… lol I would drive around in my 1967 Camaro and sing those songs till wee hours of the late night!! My overall point…. I Couldn’t go to my dream life of writing and performing gorgeous songs…. My childhood religion taught that those dreams had no value!….I disagreed deep inside…. But sadly, It took me to age 63 to see the cult- like ways of those bogus teachings……. all the wasted years… Soooo , As a jazz composer…… As weird as it sounds, I’ve gathered al my 800 plus songs 4 years ago. And, from them I’m fine tuning my ballads ………ones that will grace my debut album coming out around Christmas Hopefully??…. Lol As a short story writer, I’m also writing a novel about the power of “Music In The Soul “… Want to condense that into a 30 minute animated screenplay….. hopefully the SAG/ AFTRA strike will be victoriously won by then?? (It shouldn’t be available for release until late 2027??) At any rate my dear, dear, life long friend…….. I turn 67 this September 2. How gloriously weird I’m just putting out my FIRST ALBUM???….. Well, like I said earlier….. when a man finds….. or in my case; when a man CLAIMS HIS PATH…… even a firing squad….. is LAUGHABLE…. lol You also ended the above clip by saying: his calling….. is a “spiritual “ one…….. Thank you for teaching me to write about serious, topical thing’s before me……….. and to do them…. With tender elegance….. while acknowledging the beating heart…. of the war-torn soldier I become. I owe you…… much , much more than the song I have yet to write …. ABOUT YOU. I live in Chicago, but I may be able to fly to see you at the LIBBY BOWL on the west coast September 2nd…( my birthday…… never saw you live before!…….) PS I seen Ross’s name in the ending credits!!!!!…..EXCELLENT….. !!! …… You, Joe and Ross….stay ever close to each other as you always have. What a talent. First heard Night Walker, then Black Cars, and started buying cd's of his earlier works, which has helped me through the nonsense of 2020's. I "borrowed" a line of his lyrics when making father's speech at our daughter's wedding... I have tickets... Pittsburgh, PA, 29 September 2023, 8:00 p.m. Can't wait! The last time I saw Gino was back in 1976, Nashville, Tennessee at the War Memorial auditorium. I was in college at Tennessee State University, sophomore year and fortunately I was turned on to Gino by one of my first cousins that saw him in Detroit, MI., and had his latest CD tape during the 70's. It seems quite appropriate; forty seven years. We were both in our twenties. Well, now father time has been kind to the two of us via living and gracefully appreciating each day of life. Each day is a blessing from our Creator of above. TTRHF.... Thanks True Righteous Heavenly Father!
