@jeffbrunswick55113 жыл бұрын
Is he really that bad? My friend's father used to come home drunk and beat him up. Giorgi's father coached her into the top 30 of women's tennis, making her a multi-millionaire in the process.
@philflower77783 жыл бұрын
@@jeffbrunswick5511 Not sure how long you've been following her career. But to me she could have\should have been a top ten player. She lacks any kind of variety in her game. Drop shots, slices. I believe a good coach would have worked on that with her. I've watched his antics on the court so many times, I don't know how that can benefit her!! Granted when she's on she is capable of beating anyone, tremendous power!! But isn't it surprising it took her until this year to win her first WTA 1000 masters title? I'm talking about her tennis, not how much money her father helped her make. Although I think she would have done fine making money without him. Just saying :)

She could have easily, consistently ranked in the top 10 and probably had a few major titles under her belt. Camila could have also been a lot richer as she has a warm, humourous personality (which brands & media generally flock to) but it so seldom shows because he constantly dominates everything!

I really do understand why some players cannot stand the officials. When the officials get it wrong, there are almost zero consequences for them. But players do not get a salary; with one on one competition, this is their livelihood. Winning and losing makes a difference, maybe to sponsors, definitely for prizemoney, and points. The power imbalance is terrible, and there is no recourse for a player when an umpire gets it wrong. How is it, that thousands of miles away, I can see replays from the TV network, or on the internet, several times, but the umpires at this cheapskate tournament dont have the ability to see a replay??

Some officials even did match fixing because they bet on winnings. That's why nowadays electric Hawkeye replaces line judges in many tours. This is an improvement at least.

I have always had little sympathy for Giorgi as a player and even less sympathy for her father coach. The penalties are technically correct, ok. But the very serious, repeated and unidirectional technical errors of the chair judge remain inexplicable if not talking about bad faith: a huge shame, a very black shadow on the regularity of this Tournament. Similar filth and corruption occurred only in the 70s in the Davis Cup matches in Eastern countries!

@lilyleon14753 жыл бұрын
Facts are as follows, She lost a point due to a bad call; she then lost the game, due to her throwing her racquet - No argument there. In the next game she received another blatantly bad call and subsequently the game, due to her father. Aside from throwing her racquet, where is this bad temper? Her behaviour by the way is usually impeccable, do you have a problem with attractive women, because it seems you're judging this situation on her looks and forgetting the god awful umpire and her not so handsome father.
@rodneytapit5636 Жыл бұрын
People who think they know what others are doing are usually guilty of the same thing, it's called blame! She did not demonstrate bad temper, she simply responded. Umpire did not handle the match properly, he made it personal and excessively adhering to rules without understanding or flexibility like a normal person would.

I don't understand how such behavior, throwing your racket toward the net in the direction of your opponent or anywhere, is not cause for immediate disqualification and and a suspension of some kind, or loss or points in standings. Additionally, it created an intimidating environment, a threat of potential violence by a person who cannot control their temper. I don't care whether she was right or wrong about the ball in or out ... the issue is what kid of behavior is acceptable as sportsmanship.
