Giraffe Retractable Hose Reel (unboxing & review)

Giraffe tools reached out to me on instagram about giving one of these hose reels away. This company just started to make a scene on instagram and I was unfamiliar with them. They sent me this one so I can unbox it and try it out myself before I gave one away. I accepted their offer because I have had my eye on a retractable hose reel for some time now. I am not affiliated with Giraffe tools.
This particular reel is a 100' 1/2 diameter retractable hose reel. It has a very simple set up, and it comes with a 9 patterned nozzle. It didn't do that great winding back up from being fully pulled out, but with a little assistance it did the job it was supposed to. I think the nozzle that comes with with will work, but an upgrade may be a better long term solution.
Overall, I like the color, the length of hose that you get, the fact it is a quick set up, and that it does retract. I wish the hose diameter was bigger, or the ID of the connectors weren't smaller than 1/2". I do like this product though! Im excited to use this more this coming spring!

Great job on the video Vince. It's a nice alternative to some of the more expensive hose reels. They are convenient and liked the idea of putting it on a ground stake for mobility.

I decided to try another unit amazon was selling, has good ratings but few raters but if it doesn't pan out I will go with this brand. The one I chose to give a chance was the REDUCTUS Retractable Garden Hose Reel for about 40$ less. I guess what it will come down to is the ability to recoil back into the unit. It's a tall order for any of these units, curious now that you have had it a year how it is holding up.

Yeah, they do have larger hose options, but then the hose length gets shorter. Long and skinny or short and fat… your call.

The 1/2 inch is not enough pressure. I have the same type of hose reel and it’s not enough pressure compared to 3/4 or 5/8.

Like all hoses, I would recommend bringing them in, away from freezing conditions.

For me it needs to be 2 things 3/4 inch and electric deploy and retract

Possibly. Although they are designed to be mounted up on a wall. It was also going up hill, which gives it a little disadvantage. Thanks for watching and commenting!
