So during childhood he accidentally or intentionally killed a girl. Instead of guiding him, his parents hid him in the walls, kept him far from the society, made him eat their left overs, barely gave him the love and behavioral lessons that he needed, then chooses to leave him alone to a nanny and decides to kill themselves. The boy was in fact never properly protected and loved. And when he finally felt connected to a girl-the nanny, he tears himself out of the hidden walls, just to help and protect her as she has asked from him, but that freaks her up. Anyhow, he still follows her orders like a good boy, but she attacks him, and he feels betrayed and hurt, thus attacks her back. I can't blame the girl, anyone in her place would be freaked out, but again, she was way too stupid to choose this job in the first place. But I really feel sorry for the boy, and I am literally annoyed at his parents. If he was sick in the head, they must have given him proper psychiatric help, not lock him in the walls. I mean, c'mon!

_Want some unimportant info?_ *Cast members actually used the doll ("Brahms") to prank each other on the set. On one occasion, one of the cast members propped the doll up outside of the other actor's bathroom in their trailer to scare them. Upon seeing this, they hurled the doll outside of their trailer and the crew had to repair it and make a replacement doll.*

Honestly if the movie switched at the point where Greta asks Brahms for help and he instead scares her ex away and later on if the ex returned he helps Greta get her ex out of the house (and stops him from hurting Greta), that would be like so amazing. I would watch that. A total twist on horror and unexpected since dolls are always evil in horror. Instead the ex ends up being the horror and the doll ends up being a nice spirit who wants to protect his nanny.

@@Aniwalker2006 No it’s basically the same movie trope we’ve all seen a million times, a evil or psychotic doll and the person/spirit behind it. Also I don’t think Disney would have a extremely abusive ex in the picture....
@litmemes85603 жыл бұрын
@@Aniwalker2006 horror always does the same things, as a writer myself I was taught that each story needs to be different and writers and producers and directors etc. must take risks and change it up. If not where is the uniqueness in it? What separates it from everything else? What makes it different and better than others? This movie had the potential of twisting horror in a different way but they did not take that chance and it remained cliché. The only thing they did that was different was that the doll was never actually haunted. But it has been done before in different ways such as Scream where the serial killer was actually her boyfriend and not a rando or a phantom. But once its done it is done and shouldn't be done over and over again. Like Ready or Not may not have been classic horror and more thriller but it certainly was different. It made you see that the people were the evil ones while also adding humor and in the end you see how the curse is actually real. And it is brushed over which normally would be investigated. But after all the character goes through she doesn't care about that and its brushed aside which I thought was brilliant. It was different and that's what this movie should have done.

There is a sentimentality thing involved. I can relate. I grew up as a latchkey child who rarely leaves the house and with only inanimate objects as company, so I just see them as family to begin with. They are also helpless and cannot react, so I just couldn't imagine why anyone would feel it necessary to roughly handle something so harmless. Why go out of one's way? Just because they aren't alive? Why the discrimination? That aside, this seems like a rad job and paycheck looks good too 😎 The lack of wifi is a bit saddening though. Haha.

People saying they would’ve cared for the doll like it was their own child are liars! It’s a doll mate, and I’m pretty sure doing all that shit for an inanimate object takes a toll on your mental health!
@lucchini33183 жыл бұрын
You don't do it FOR the doll, you do it for the people that hired you and are paying you money. Imagine being hired as a pet-sitter and then not giving a shit about the animal(s), because they think the animals are not humans so they're not important. Think about what people actually do to animals... so there are a lot of people that just don't care about them at all.

Reminds me of a creepy, homemade video of a couple who lost their son in an accident. The couple have trouble coping, and meet a man who was said to make 'lifelike' dolls, and when asked, the dollmaker says 'no one has ever complained', but needs something that once belonged to the child. We, (the audience) see a simple handmade doll with black button eyes, and the dollmaker gives them some rules to follow. One: You can only be with the doll for ONE hour in a specific house, and Two: NEVER remove the doll from said house, or the lifelike magic is gone. The grieving mother is all for this, as (we see through her eyes), her son is alive again, and enjoys feeding and caring for the doll, as she would her own son. The grieving father is not fooled, however, and languishes because his wife would continue staying in that house, surpassing the time limit. Unable to stand it anymore, he drags his wife out of the house, hoping to break the spell on her... only to be clutching two dolls in his hands! As it turned out, the grieving mother slit her wrists, commiting suicide, leaving her husband to grieve alone. Again, we hear the dollmaker saying that 'nobody complains', possibly on his way to the next grieving family. It's scary what grief does to people, and this is what the movie reminds me of, aside from the vengeful ghost of a woman killing people off by writing horror stories due to the fact her family treated her like crap and locked her in the walls and tortured her in her brother's asylum!

I was totally expecting some weird twist of "Greta slowly starts acting like the mother" and it was like a curse or something by the doll of a constant "family" and the old people left because they were free and stuff.. like she would slowly start actually perceiving the doll as her own.. and Malcolm slowly would spend more and more time at the house and start being "fatherly" like Brahms was waiting for a good couple of people to make the next "family" Would fit with the time Greta's clothes go missing and she "has" to wear some of the old ladies clothes or something.. And the old people killing themselves would just be a "spent so much time forced to do that they couldn't live with themselves anymore" like they were not the first people to be "ensnared" by Brahms.. Oh even creepier would of been instead Cole becoming the "dad" since it would be like.. Greta tried to escape him but now became a "lovely couple" with him by Brahms I have no idea if it was better or worse it wasn't a cursed doll.. But also.. what does the ending mean? No one is there to care for Brahms anymore.. so what is the point of gluing the doll together? What were the nightmares about? They were too supernatural to be normal nightmares..

When they talked about her being the first young and pretty nanny, she got the job without being overly pokerfaced or something other that would justify his sudden approval, then her being locked into the attic so she can't go out to town with grocery-man and it being revealed that they lived with the son like this for twenty years, I got MAYOR creepy vibes. So Brahm was a weird kid. The father thought him strange but never said or did anything about it and one day he stalked the one kid in class he liked. No one could do anything about it and the parents probably tolerated it. But one day the girl was gone and never found and then there was a strange house fire that "killed" the son. I guess he killed the poor girl and he took her back to his parents house or killed her there and hid her somewhere. The parents found out and tried to hide the evidence and as a result Braham acted out and somehow got burned badly in the house fire which may or may not have been caused by him or the parents trying to destroy evidence. The parents where so ashamed of their child they had instead of going to the police or seek out psychological help they decided to hide him away inside their walls and keep him like a rat, feeding him scraps and leftovers. The mother started griefing and putting attention on the doll and Braham got controlling over the doll and used it as a substitude for himself acting as a tool to control his parents. And both parents were terrified of their kid and played along for 20 years. This movie is a horror movie after all. Also he looks super thin but then he is super ripped AND has a beard but his face is burned. Not his beard tho. XD Also his parents drowned themselves what is he gluing the doll back up for? No one is going to bring him food either.
