I agree that sometimes it’s not good to complement people on their weight lost depending on the reason behind it. Being a type 1 diabetic, when I got really sick I lost a lot of weight. It wasn’t because I was trying to, it was because I was literally dying. Being that I had body image issues in the past, literally EVERYONE telling me I lost weight and I looked so much better did something to me mentally. I ended up developing a eating disorder called Diabulimia. When I got the help I needed, started taking care of myself and my health was getting better the weight naturally came back and it terrified me because Im still healing mentally and physically. Me losing weight because I’m not trying to and dying vs working my butt off and eating better to lose weight are two different things.

I hate when people tell me I lost weight, so I agree with the person who wrote that. I say stop saying that to people because you never know if it's intentional weight loss. If you do choose to say it as a compliment, make sure you say it to someone you KNOW has been struggling with weight loss and would be happy to hear that. Because I'm 130lbs and keep losing weight, I hate hearing it!!

From my recent experience I am getting to know someone and on the first date he did bring up his ex and how and why it all came to an end. I was open ears. Like Jeanie said I'm open ears. I wanted to see how he would Express about him and and how he felt when it came to an end. I on the other hand didn't get into any details till the other day that it came up. And we went deep into details. Both can be done.... It just depends on how you are speak of them and how much energy you are putting into the topic. In neither instance did it come off that he wanted him back. I believe transparency is important but also having a non bias mind set when it comes to taking sides or judgment

So let’s talk about Weight. Your own personal experience with weight does not reflect how others view weight. Losing weight isn’t inherently something good or something to be praised. Whether the intention is right, that comment will affect them in some way or form. If you do not already know they WANTED to lose weight, keep your mouth shut. If they wanted to gain weight and they succeeded, then you compliment them. It’s all about consent, too. Throwing a statement when it wasn’t asked for is selfish and you need to learn self control. All in all, compliments are a two way street. If someone didn’t view it as a compliment.... it wasn’t a compliment. It was an ill informed statement. Moral of the story, mind ya business
