@@RandySoWavvy I don't think these women make as much as you think. Sure, they make plenty to live a comfortable life...but I bet you a couple of them still have some debt, and if they stopped working for a few years, I think they'd feel the hurt. Although they all look like they occasionally splurge, I think they still need to consider prices and budget because the more a person makes the more taxes come out. For you to really feel wealth...you really have to be making a lot to the point where taxes are no longer an issue... that's real wealth.

I’ve been doing my own Brazilian wax for about 20 years now since freshman year of college. I wasn’t willing to spend the money from the part time job I had while in school, and I had a boyfriend at the time who was not ok with me having a “bush”. It was going to be my first time sleeping with someone and I wanted it to be special. I honestly didn’t know what a Brazilian wax was and he told me about it. When I called a salon to book an appt, it was like $60 that I was not planning to spend on THAT. He offered to pay, but then I got scared bc it sounded like it hurts! So, I looked for other options and went to Walmart to see if there were any DIY kits. Nair had this microwaveable water-soluble honey based wax kit with a plastic applicator and the cotton strips that I tried for like maybe $10 and it was BOMB! I was like Adrienne sitting on my dorm room floor for a few hours the first couple of times bc you kind of had to get yourself mentally prepared to rip the wax off multiple times with each application and take the pain. The nice part about it was that it was water soluble so when I messed up and maybe put a little bit too much on at once somewhere or it got on the floor, I just washed it off with some warm water and it was fine. I continued to use that kit for years. It ended up taking me about an hour and it would be during my “self care” day with a movie or some music on chillin with some snacks. The con with this kit was that sometimes I had to go over an area multiple times or I ended up having to tweeze some because it didn’t always lift up all the hair. So, in search of a product that would be a little more effective, I decided about 5 years later to try a more professional grade wax in the warmer from a brand called Gigi. It worked better but if I made a mistake and put too much on it was hell to pay when I ripped it off or I would have to cut it off with scissors REALLY carefully because I was cutting between where my hair started to grow and the wax which was already stuck to my skin so there is like microscopic room in between and I had to kind of the edge the scissors in. Not fun. I did cry, it was painful. I used the Gigi cotton or muslin strips with the all purpose honey wax first and then when it came out, I began to use the hard wax which didn’t need the strips. I’ve saved SO much money over the years by doing this myself, but it does take a little extra time and some growing pains. Over the years, I found out what worked best for me through experience and trail and error. Today, I just keep the wax in a Gigi warmer and when I see some hairs growing that I want to get rid of right away, I do it right then and there. I don’t need to wait for it to grow and make an appt at a salon. And if there are times when you need to do it last minute but can’t get an appt anywhere, you can just do it yourself which is super convenient. I do my own wax for everything actually. Haven’t shaved anything in over 20 years. I would say that if you’re going to do a Brazilian on yourself with a professional grade wax and you’re just starting out, do a little tiny area at a time. It will hurt less and you can gradually build up to the pain tolerance for an area size that you are comfortable with ripping off. I still do this for the middle sensitive area. I do this in front of a mirror and with a desk lamp shining on the area so I can clearly see the area I’m putting wax on. The wax I use and I feel is the best I’ve tried so far is a blue hard wax called Cirepil and I use it with a Gigi warmer where I can adjust the temperature. I recommend this warmer vs the space saving one that Gigi has bc you need to have the wax be just the right temperature for consistency before you apply and the lowest setting of this warmer will allow you to maintain that temperature. Otherwise, you will be waiting for the wax to cool down in the space saving one and have to keep turning it off and on to get it to be just the right consistency. The wax should be flexible and drip slow, but not gummy or “liquidy” before you apply. When you’re finished, make sure to apply azulene oil or baby oil to help seal the area. Gigi also has some nice supplemental wax items too, for pre or post wax or even for getting wax off or cleaning that I have continued to use and recommend. I’ve tried getting a Brazilian done at wax places and they are fast and efficient, but I just can’t get over spending $70-$80 each time (with tip) for a Brazilian wax that lasted maybe 10 min. DIY Brazilian wax is not for everyone, but if you want to save your coins or be able to do it on the fly, I would highly recommend to try it yourself. I hope this was helpful for anyone looking to into it.
@brittnietapia35552 жыл бұрын
After so many years of experience how long does it take u to do ur own Brazilian now?? I have been doing it for about a year now and I was also doing it for multiple hours with breaks in the beginning but i was willing to put in the time. Now I think I’m down to 40 min for tweezing strays and all that and I think I will get faster because I am learning new tips.
@michshae2 жыл бұрын
@@brittnietapia3555Well it depends, bc I don’t like to wait until everything grows out, I just try to do it when it starts to get long enough to wax even if it’s not that much hair. I just turn the Gigi warmer on before I get in the shower to let it warm and then do it after. If I were to wait to have everything grow out then i would say it would probably be around the same amount of time as you.
