What a great story! I raise monarchs in Northern Indiana and have also found several that have been grazed by cars, stunned by the cold, etc. Often if their injuries are fairly minor, they just need time to recover in a safe, warm spot, and some food. You did exactly the right thing for that handsome young gentleman! I'm so glad he was able to fly off again and resume life as a wild monarch! I'm sure you'll never forget each other. 🦋 ❤

How long do monarchs live for? My daughter and I planted a TON of wildflowers on a 1 acre patch of land on our property that are supposed to be for Monarch Butterflies and honeybees. We had so many butterflies this year, it was amazing.

@@LeeLee86 the most amazing thing about monarchs is that they migrate from Mexico (eastern) and California (western) and they go through several generations making their way all the way up to Canada. The final generation then flies from Canada all the way back to Mexico/California in one go, where they overwinter, and then breed again when it gets warm enough- starting that cycle over again. Amazing, beautiful creatures.

You could not see any green at all, it was all orange & black Monarch butterflies. "Wow" is an understatement. I was walking Lenny two days ago near our house on a trail and saw ~ 10 Monarch's flying around so they may not be back here in great numbers, yet it's heartwarming to know they are still around. I no longer use pesticides on our property, we'll put up with ants in the kitchen and bugs in our yard & garden.
