So I used the gridding method for this because I don't have tracing paper and it is bigger than this but idk I guess I will just have to see how it comes out. I really enjoyed painting the boy on the pier so I don't want to give up yet

I love this painting. I decided to paint a practice first. 🥺 I am using my sketchbook and the paint dries as soon as I touch the paper. No time to shade? What can I do to my painting for more time. Thank you for your help Judy

There isn't a lot you can do to fix that when painting on paper, as the paper absorbs the moisture from the paints. As you add more layers that will get better. Something you could try is canvas paper. It reacts like canvas, is economical, and like canvas you can paint over it several times to keep practicing techniques on. 💝💝
