Q: Why are cars towed from your lot?
A: Because they're parked illegally and take up space our customers need, 24 hours.
Q: But it's night-time. Businesses are closed at night. Do you really have to tow at night?
A: Yes. This business is NOT closed at night. It's very common for techs to visit in the overnight times in order to do maintenance on servers and systems. It's also possible that deliveries may need to be made during after-hours times.
Q: How do you know if it's a customer or not?
A: There is various technology at work to help with this. But the simplest answer is that if they're not in the building and they haven't checked in with the tech desk, their car doesn't belong in the lot.
Q: You suck.
A: That's not a question, but I get the point. And I've heard it all before. I understand you think you've got a witty, original insult for me. You probably don't. Save yourself the humiliation.
Q: Do you read the comments?
A: Sometimes against my better judgement, generally, yes.
Q: Why don't you just rent out spaces and make money?
A: Because that would eliminate parking spaces for the real customers of the business. It's not worth the few bucks.
Q: Do you get paid a fee or kickback for the towed cars?
A: No.
Q: Are there signs posted about not to park?
A: Yes. No fewer than 6. Usually more if they're not damaged or destroyed.
Q: Your signs are misleading. Do they say 24 hours? Should they be mounted differently?
A: The signs specify 24 hours / 7 days a week. They're mounted in accordance with local laws.
Q: How many cameras do you have?
A: More than 60. Some you can see, some are hidden.
Q: What kind of cameras do you use?
A: A lot of different kinds, based on the application.
Q: Do you feel bad for these people who get towed?
A: Most of the time, not really.
Q: Why are you making fun of the people who get towed?
A: I'm not. I'm posting the videos because I think they're entertaining and educational.
Q: How come you never post videos of cars that belong there?
A: Because that wouldn't be entertaining at all. It would be completely boring.
Q: Why don't you stop people from parking?
A: Sometimes we do! It all depends on if we are able to catch what's happening live, but the company's techs have their jobs to do and are not always available to have their eyes glued to the parking lot cameras and be able to run outside.

I watched a bunch of repo videos a couple years ago and started getting nervous anytime I heard a diesel engine in my apartment parking lot, despite having one paid off car and one paid on time car.

Well, there are reports of some less-reputable towing companies jumping the gun on towing cars that were parked legally but were close to the lot's listed time limit for customers. A lot of those who have been caught doing this have had their operating licenses revoked, but there are some out there who are still doing that sort of thing.

Alright... I am FAR too OCD, ADD, ADHD... manic depressant, mood swings.. to even have the SLIGHTEST possible chance = .01% of being towed. I read every sign, everything on the ground.. any sign.. close to my vehicle.. is documented, taken a shot of (BEFORE I LEAVE vehicle). TO TRIPLE check.. if I am allowed to place my vehicle there. As far as a Tow Truck... Most of them are Diesels as a F350, F450, slightly lifted up front, with little to no badging, full tint.. driving around with no lights, on (doing repos)... I dont even have to hear them. I CAN FEEL THEM COMING UP MY SPINE. I have a 6th sense. I CAN SMELL THEM COMING. I notice.. them in my rear view, at night, in the dark, while its snowing, WEARING SUNGLASSES, WHILE ITS SNOWING IN HELL! Tow Trucks... got nothing on me. If everything I know about my vehicle is SOLID and without any shadow of a doubt... than I HAVE nothing to fear. I... dont exactly drive a generic vehicle. I could park my car, at night, AFTER A BLIZZARD... with 1000 other generic usual vehicles around it and youd still notice my car.

GTOger I truly understand what is going on and why you do it , I was a bylaw enforcement officer for 6 years tagging and towing private parkers and other bylaw offenders ,then I went to work for the towing company that worked closely with us and we then used the petty trespass act to remove vehicles, the difference is we would get a witness and a signature or they had a pass on the dash . this is a real joy to watch , it kinda brings me back to those days . also I think I heard every excuse in the book too thank you for the videos

@@AzimovTube Well, since storage is pretty inexpensive, one would think that storing hi-res footage for the last 24 hours and then low-res for whatever time period is required would be pretty affordable. Maybe they're still using analog crap cameras from 30 years ago?

It's all a matter of keeping up with the technology. When we first moved into the building 12 years ago, we installed a brand new CCTV system which used 700-line analog cameras. We're now 3 system upgrades later, although some of the original cameras are still in use. I have to imagine that most banks and convenience stores tend not to think about the security cameras unless there's a problem. In our industry, it's just something that gets constantly addressed.

@@gtoger I agree, it is a matter of keeping up with technology. I run security camera's for a building and we tend to replace the cameras every 3 years or so. I believe we started with 240p tape, yes as in cassette tape, security and over time, we upgraded to HDVI 720p (1080p at 15fps). However, banks tend to only upgrade their cameras when they remodel and convenience stores tend to buy the cheapest cameras available.

I work as an armed security guard and one of the properties our company works for has us enforce very strict parking rules. So I just love tagging vehicles for the tow truck driver. Its like real life Gtoger

brendon boot I used to check parking lots to verify customers payments. I've had to request tows as well. One of our lots was a reserved lot. Not public parking. I didn't have to patrol that one. The valid customers would call us when someone parked in their reserved space, and we would confirm and tow. (Very satisfying. Still have the tow company phone number memorized. Sometimes my fingers still get an "itching" to call in a tow.)
