Mothers get jealous of their son’s relationships and the son needs to stand up for his significant other. He has to stand up to his mom. He’s not marrying his mom, he’s marrying you

@@weylie_hoang As an Aepygigantogiraffa 🦒 Bull ( male ), I believe this is true based on my observation. Moms tend to look up to their daughter's boyfriends as if they are sons and that's why moms are more accepting of their daughter's boyfriends but they see their son's girlfriends as competitors and rivals and they will do anything to get rid of his girlfriend and keep him all to herself. For dads, they congratulate their sons for getting a girlfriend and since they look up to their son's girlfriends as if they are daughters, they tend to be very accepting towards them. But to their daughter's boyfriends, they always see their daughter's boyfriends as always planning on doing something bad to their daughters and that is why they don't like their daughter's boyfriends.

If a mother doesnt have a valid reason to hate the girl her son is dating, more than likely its jealousy. Jealous her son might leave or abandon the mother for the girlfriend. Mothers think no girl is good enough for their son. Even if the girl is the sweetest, most accomplished thing ever, its never good enough. Sucks I know. I think if you know your a good person, and have alot to offer your boyfriend, you shouldn't get discouraged by the mother. And if your boyfriend decides to leave you to please his mommy then your better off without him. Nothing worse than a mamas boy. A man should be mature enough to put his foot down and make his own decisions to what makes him happy. Not to please his parents. A grown man cant be by mommy or daddy's side forever. If the girl is a good person, I dont see why any man would ditch her all because his mom doesnt have a good enough excuse to hate her. Also, not all mothers are this way. A good majority of them are, but im sure theirs some mothers out there that are not completely insane 😂

Absolutely, my bf's mother is divorced and he's her only child, so that's probably part of it. She hasn't approved of any girlfriend he's ever had and I'm worried that she'll either never learn to accept me or that she'll bother him so much that she'll end up isolated from everyone. She's extremely stubborn, but I know parents will often learn to live with their child's choices. :)

I’m sorry Weylie but my husband chose to stop speaking to his mother a few years ago because of her toxic behavior. I do not believe anyone should have to endure years of emotional abuse. This woman chose time and time again to talk shit about me, make threats, ultimatums anything to get him to leave me. And I know that sounds dramatic but it’s true and I TRIED and TRIED to get on her side because he and his mom were very close, so I understood the feeling that I was taking him away. But she is not able to see beyond herself in the least. When I proved myself loyal time and time again she would find some reason to call me names and put me down. When you, as a full grown adult, choose to abuse someone because of your own selfish desires... that is someone who should not be in your life. So my husband made the decision - him, not me - to cut off contact with her completely. And of course I hear from other family members how she blames me for this and I’m “in his head” but that’s just further proof that she is not capable of even TRYING to change so she can be in her son’s life. Truth be told I do not care if she likes me, but to give up her relationship with her child??? It’s unforgivable to me. I have this idea that maybe years down the line she would reach out and apologize to my husband because I want him to have his mother in his life. But to all those out there struggling with this - it is abuse. No one has the right to abuse you. To mistreat someone their child loves off some selfish idea or fear that you’re not what THEY want for their child. A good parent will learn to love you, will take the time to build a relationship with you. Respect and human decency is not something that needs to be earned

This is my advice for the mom who doesn’t like you: I also had a similar situation where my boyfriends mom did not like me. My boyfriend told me not to worry if she liked me or not but I insisted that it was important to me because his mom was a part of him and I wanted her approval because I valued her opinion. Family is very important and I didn’t want to cause conflict down the road. So he assured his mother how much he loved me. How I brought him happiness and that he planned on having me in life forever. He told her how he never felt this way about any woman and that he wished for her to share or be happy for him. That is when the tide turned and I’m so blessed to be a part of not only his life but his families. Make sure your man expresses this because every mom wants nothing but happiness for their sons

I think you should never try to win someones approval. It should never be your goal. Respect and have your boundaries. Some will never approve of you and it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them.

I related so much to that last person. I was in a toxic relationship for months & I wanted to leave but I didn’t want to be alone. In the end, he broke it off with me & I was the one that got hurt. I definitely think it's a good idea to keep your arguments private because if you broadcast it you know people will start picking out sides, pointing out who was wrong, who was right, start criticizing you for being an imperfect person, etc. And if you see those comments it could really influence your relationship when your relationship should be private between you two. I don't think you want to invite the whole internet into your personal relationship.

The last question and your advice really hit me. I was stuck in a very toxic relationship for two years and when I ended things I felt miserable. That feeling was only temporary though and I've since moved on and honestly haven't been more satisfied with my life. I clung on to the relationship for so long since it was my first high school relationship. At that time I didn't know my self worth and relied on someone else to validate me. Keeping myself busy and working on my own growth definitely helped me get over it. Now I hate him but that's besides the point LMAO so happy to return from work and be blessed with another girl talk vid! Love you gurl

I think one piece of advice that I would offer to my younger self (who was stuck in a few toxic relationships) is that you need to really think on the fact that life is LONG. I know, people always say life is short. But no, imagine this toxic person who you KNOW isn’t good for you, that you’re still with him when you’re 30, that you spend an additional five long years with him and you’re now 35, and then you spend another five tumultuous years with him and you’re 40. And you’ve got your entire 40s to go through with him too. Think of the situation it will be when you have to be on this persons team as a parent (hardest job ever btw). And this isn’t even into your older years like 50s, 60s, 70s. You have to live with this person and live a generally unhappy life because you’re scared to be alone right now. I was in the same boat, more than once. And as dumb as it sounds, I was so afraid to be alone. So so afraid that I made decisions I knew weren’t good for me. And all I have to say is, I understand it is hard to break out of that cycle. I know it’s hard to sit alone in your living room watching tv, sleeping, eating. But I implore you to gather strength and do what you can to meet someone new. If you can’t handle being alone, then do everything in your power to meet someone new. And move on. You will be so happy and grateful you did. When I think about how much I wanted those relationships to work, it actually scares me now bc what if I had gotten my wish back then? I wouldn’t be in my happy marriage with a beautiful baby now. So girls, please find strength. If you don’t have it, fake it til you make it.

My Boyfriends Mom hated me. Like if looks could kill I’d be dead right now lol. But he was/is a huge mommas boy. She’d always have a comment or look at me funny. And I’m the one to confront and not beat around the bush but out of respect for her and him I didn’t say anything until our 2 yrs anniversary was coming around so I finally decided to invite her for dinner so we could talk. And I we talked for about 4 hours and got everything off our chest. At the end she apologized and as did I because I had some snotty remarks and another year later I can call her for anything and she can rely on me. She’s basically another mom that I’ve never had.

adri cavazos wow this is really good advice. I was always looking for ways to just deal with my bfs mom hating me. I never thought of how to confront the problem and talk about it and fix it. This comment really encouraged me to invite her out to dinner and fix this whole thing. I hope it works out like it did for you.

thank you for this video weylie. it legitimately feels like I have a big sister just talking to me and not gonna lie, I really needed this. anyone can see how much you care and how you genuinely want to help us. your advice is always welcome, I hope you do more videos like this! recently I've been having issues with the person I used to consider best friend. its not outright drama, but more like issues that piled up and ultimately led to us drifting. i've tried to acknowledge and fix it, but it just feels like we can't go back and that she doesn't want to. when you were talking about how having just one good best friend is a blessing, even though i've heard that phrase a lot, I truly understand it now. if you asked me a year ago if I would be in the situation I am in now with my friend, I would've never believed u. I really thought there was nothing that could separate us, and that I would never be alone, but as my school year comes to a close I realize how naive I was. I have been questioning myself if what I want in a friend, like having someone be "ride or die" for you essentially, actually exists in life. I am still not sure if what I've been looking for is even possible, and I know I shouldn't keep trying to fix what we once had after all my failed attempts. But the saddest part is, I know if she tried even once, I would go running back to her because I miss having someone like that in my life so much. maybe it is time to close this chapter like you said. thank you again for your video. i love u weylie :'-)

I have a couple of things about marriage: I was 23 when we married and felt the pressure of having a BIG wedding and I also felt like if I don't I'm going to regret it. So we did have a very stressful big wedding that we did not enjoy because all of the prep and planning that needed to be done but our guests still to this day talk about how great our wedding was.. So my advice would be to listen to your own heart, if you don't want a big wedding, then don't! Now at 29 I would have just a simple service and a party with friends. On being married: It does not really do anything for your relationship except in the eyes of the law and that is important for long term. Other than that you go on with your life just the same. So spend that 10 + thousand dollars on your everyday life instead of one day.

I definitely agree with you, Weylie! I’ve been with my now fiancée for almost seven years now too. We own a 3-year old American Eskimo and we also had sooooooo many people that always asked us when we are getting married. We definitely are doing it on our own terms and always ignored how others criticize us and where we should be in our relationship. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what others think and what stage they think your relationship should be at because you know, that’s YOUR relationship!

About the marriage thing- my husband and I kind of gave in to the pressure from our families after about 5 years, at age 27. It was really nice to have a wedding and we are super happy and love being married, but I think it is so wise that you are trusting that feeling of not wanting to move to the next stage. If our marriage were really only the two of us then everything would be amazing but once you are married FAMILY becomes really important and the stress and obligations increase soooo much. You’re so smart to be aware of that! You really give great advice 😊😊😊

Preach it, sister! 🙏😎 I wished an advice video like this existed back when I was in high school... I’m in my late 20s now but still remember how terribly shy and awkward I was during my teen years. Half of my friends were in relationships and dealing with some type of boyfriend drama, while I became a huge nerd. I kept myself busy with school and extracurricular activities, but remember always seeing my friends break down over their guys. It wasn’t an easy task for them to juggle good grades and BS... I just want to say it’s perfectly a-OK to be shy in high school! Take this time to really focus on yourself and achieve your goals! I became extra studious, won a small handful of scholarships, and got into my dream college. I’ve since graduated and am happily in a long-term relationship now. I know everybody is different, but I’m grateful that I kept my academics and love life separate. Embrace your shyness and invest that into your short and long term goals 😊

Im 25 and still dont have my shit together. I havent started college, I never been in a relationship, etc... Im scared when my 30th birthday comes around. I try to see the positives in my life because their is always someone that has it worse. I sometimes feel im too old 😂 also, to the girl that feels bad about not having a boyfriend in highschool, dont be sad. Boys in highschool are extremely immature. When I look back at my highschool days, I thank God I never got myself involved in a immature romance that would have ended anyway. Very rarely do high school relationships last. Highschool should be a time to focus on your future and college. Relationships just complicate things. Wait till your older lol!

It’s taking me an eternity to get my colege degree, most people (younger than me) around me already have it and on the family reunions they keep asking if im not finished yet. I’ve got a lot of anxiety about it. My best friend is in the same situation so luckily we support each other. I know everybody have their own time and we shouldn’t compare with others, buts sometimes it’s nice that someone remember it to you. Thanks girl!

It's so interesting you say that, because my Mother also has always told me growing up that you will only every have one true best friend. Being 24 now, 25 in October, I feel that was some of the best advice I've ever gotten. I think it's great that you made a note of that by using your platform, cuz its something small and simple that I feel I've never heard elsewhere in life. Me and my bf will be together 7 years in July, and I've been following you for almost that long. There are SO MANY similarities between you and wah, and me and my boyfriend. I also relate to you on the marriage thing cuz girrrrrrlllll people always be asking us when marriage is coming and we're both like it'll happen when it happens! Anyways, I feel you always give great advice, and that you think so so similarly to me. Actually, just by what you show on social media, we have a lot of similarities all over the place. I wish I could get to know you more personally. I follow you on insta, and if you ever get bored (although I doubt it cuz I'm sure youre super busy lol) you could check me out @rachiexhart I'd love the chance to talk to you sometime, although I know its not the most likely thing to happen! Peace out girl scout :)

Love you Weylie and your talks! The part about not having my life together and what real friends are is definitely true. I'm currently going through the "already graduated from college and turning 26 in 5 months, but still working a minimum wage job and not using my degree." I go through phases of negative emotions and feel like I won't succeed in life. But, I tell myself that things will get better. I just need to take a break and try to incorporate new things in my life. I also plan to move back to LA one day. I'm hoping by the end of next year as I save up more money because I truly feel that is where I belong. As for friendships I didn't realize until last year that if someone really cares about you they will make that effort to be a part of your life. Now I only give to people who have shown me they are worth my time. Thank you Weylie for being a youtuber that not only spreads positivity, but also being true to yourself!

I really like these video talks from you weylie, even though I'm 2 years older than you but it feels like you're the older sister to me. Giving me these tips, life talks and self reflection. I've been engaged to my fiancé for 3 years, and of course other ppl engaged and married already in between those 3 years. They ask why I'm not having my wedding yet. Truth is, we're happy right now, no need to rush and we just want to slowly plan it.
