Now that I’m grown, I’ve realized how important this episode was for kids to watch too. It was my first introduction for AIDS, as a kid that knife scene really struck me.

This episode should've won them all types of awards because it was so informative, well written and well acted

No it shouldn't have almost all shows from the late 90s and early 2000s had at least one HIV/Aids episode

My only beef about Joan with the knife, is that she didn't use any hot water, soap, or bleach to clean it. HIV or not, blood or not, that's not how you clean dishes properly.
@karisworldgaming48322 жыл бұрын
She put it in the dishwasher, which user both soap and boiling hot water.

I remember watching this in my college years 1996-98... I'm so happy to find this channel. Never saw this episode. Reminds me of the TLC song Waterfalls. Notice how naturally beautiful these girls were. Still many beautiful girls out here now, but something about this not overdone 90's vibe. As a make up artist, I love it!!!

#Girlfriends Season 3 Disc 4 Esp 1 #HIV Positive HEALINGw HOPE #AIDS Reesie reveals that she has contracted AIDS from Brian. He had unprotected sex with men, refusing to take along condoms because he was in denial about the fact that he is gay. The girls try too hard to comfort Reesie, and freak out a little when she cuts herself while chopping vegetables. She assures them that they cannot contract HIV this way, but Joan initially remains a little skeptical. Toni picks out her dress, and the girls try to assure Reesie that she will be around long enough to see her daughter tie the knot.

HEALINGw HOPE I know it's just semantics, but no one contracts AIDS, HIV is transmitted, AIDS develops from the virus destroying the immune system.

When I was like 9 years old I didn't know anything about AIDS..my dad had his friend over and I drank from his cup .so my dad tells my mom that his friend didn't have that long because he had AIDS.so I immediately freaked out for a week thinking I was going to catch AIDS from drinking from his cup long story I was just not educated on that topic no1 talked about that in the early 90s to kids.it was very taboo.
