This is the greatest reflection of society. Sherry cared about everyone, cooked dinner despite her age, kept all the problems inside and cleaned the house while others had fun. Gabrielle was a bully and she told Sherry that she was useless. Sherry kept it inside and became sad. She learned that if you do something nice, people will see you weak and try to destroy you. I wish she didn't learn it that way.

@ScottNapolitan
@ScottNapolitan 3 ай бұрын
And the other seven probably didn’t deserve her either, merely because they didn’t have the extra layer of maturity that she did, but most kids that young don’t, so it’s really not their fault. Now Sade was the total opposite, the house bully, and Gaby was the one who called her useless, no one else, but the others told her Gaby was wrong, plus there were many things skipped for the sake of time so we’re left only to guess and speculate many specific details. There’s no evidence anywhere that confirms that anyone except Sade and Gabrielle were actually mean to Sherry and there are all sorts of possible truths that we can’t rule out altogether for what happens during time skips. Unlike many users on this site I am not so quick to assume the worst. But yes, Sade’s terror and Gaby’s cruel words naturally would have been enough to make Sherry want to leave, and while many still supported her, that just didn’t do it. I think it’s only if S and G had left, her two arch nemeses, that there would have been a chance that she would have been prompted to stay.

@@laurablair287 Well, too late. These guys are already 10....you cannot change a personality once they have reached that age! The parents have MADE their many mistakes in the past by bringing up their sons as violent, uncaring creatures and now they harvest what they have sown. Fortunately I know quite a few boys who were brought up differently and who are now 12 and are soft and caring and respectful and good-mannered - and they will make great friends, husbands and fathers. But these guys from the house: they will cause a lot of distruction, I'm absolutely sure of that.

With this having been filmed in 2002, this year marks 20yrs. It would be interesting to get all these girls, now women of 30-31, together. I think it would be interesting to see them have a weekend together. Then follow that up with having each of them sit down and review the first documentary and share their thoughts and views. Sociologically speaking, it would be an interesting study to juxtapose the two time frames and see the similarities and differences in their characters and take a look into the causes of dramatic shifts.

@@nickgarcia6572 ya, it would be quite interesting to see what they are like now after 20 years. And to get to see what their individual reactions would be to the original video. If they would be embarrassed or lament their behaviors, if they would look back and see how they have changed, etc. But it would have to be that they spend the same amount of time together being filmed and then rewatch the original video so as not to influence them to change their behaviors intentionally. The personality changes, if any, would be quite a thing to study.

Then later, after they barricade the door and another girl gets her fingers caught in the door, Sade blames it on them. Sade created the whole mess by taking another girls blanket while she slept, upsetting everyone, then blaming the other girls for reacting to her belligerent behavior. Sade throughout the video had little regards for others and sleeping. She wanted to be active and she was going to force the others to be so as well in the middle of the night. Then there's the locking herself in the bathroom. Not only is she depriving a shared space people need to have access to, she's placing her control on the group by focusing the attention on her. She's a scary one. Sherry tried to create some order and make the place more comfortable and was, roundly mistreated by Sade among others. In Sade's mind, the other's wants and needs didn't matter. Only hers.

As much as I love Sherry, I find it very worrying that she is taking care of everyone, doing everything for everyone and, due to lack of gratitude, isolating herself. At least they DID go to her when she was upset, Sade and Gaby didn’t give a s**t. I’ve tried to report your stupid comments twice today, but I guess it’s no use! I hate trolls as much as I do bullies. Why don’t you “hate” the fact that Gaby called her useless, or that Sade just terrorized everyone, Sherry being no exception. The rest of them were still okay, despite whatever you say, and they may not have been as exceptional as Sherry, but that’s okay because they weren’t like Sade, nor Gaby. They still comforted Sherry when she was upset, and you backlash ‘em for it. That’s disgusting, especially when you do it to children! I respect your comment though because unlike all these other liars in here your comment is the only one that claims to see yourself in her. SHe was just a kid then, and kids should really not be acting almost like a mom. She probably had a lot of responsibility growing up, and a lot of times, those be the people to turn up when they are adults lol. Im sure she is doing good, but a lot changes when youre a kid., especially the way you act.

@@twoeyes1922 Or both can be true. She was wanting to be this person everyone listened too like a mom, in an "I'm in charge, because I'm the mother" vibes, and why would girls away from their parents want a low key boring, motherly friend? That's weird tbh. you can tell that's how she expects to be treated. a lot of people pointed that out. A lot of women who were like Shelly pointed out how it was for them, and the expectation placed on you. And as someone who worked with kids, I know a lot of responsible kids that still acted like a kid. Having a kid play a mother role isn't a good thing, and it often leads to teen rebellion and pregnancy.

@@twoeyes1922 Also, most girl as you can see from the boys to the girls are raised to be cleaners, and responsible than boys. No matter how Childish the girls seemed, they mostly could clean and take care of themselves. I say that to say, most lil girls, especially in 2002 was being raised pretty much the same, but they were able to be kids, while Shelly couldn't. I want to unpack that

Yeah. Sherry reminded me a lot of me ...and I was thinking that long before I read all the comments gushing about her. I was a self-isolating kid, not really "fun" or whacky etc...the one always trying to keep people on task, etc...I would have been playing by myself too. But more solitary serious people don't really fit into groups as well, alas. I don't think the way I am is really the best way. So yeah, I was more impressed by the girls who set out to reconcile the fights or find out the problems. I found myself wishing I had been more like them (like Charlie)...and frankly, wishing that I was still more like them! At ease being a peace-maker, etc. instead of a no-fun hermit type. I guess it takes all kinds.

I haven't watched the boy version, and I know you're being hyperbolic with the names for both, but manipulative sociopaths for the girls? Other than Gabrielle calling Sherry useless and weird at the very beginning when she made a "party" for the other girls and Sade in general, they weren't really bad at all. Sade was the main problem throughout the whole experiment, especially after day 1/2. Most of the other girls got along great
