Same thing happened to my dog. He loved the groomers was always well behaved. And then all of sudden he bit his groomers. We were shocked until we found out that this particular groomer clipped his private area and he bit him. So we changed groomers and he went back to loving the groomers.

There are good salons and ones where the potential for negative things to happen are higher. Just as there are dogs that can handle an active salon, and those who cant. Its really up to the owner to do their research and know whats best for their dog. Screen groomer as you would a babysitter and take it slow.

This happened to us with doggy daycare. One day he was fine, the next he was pitching fits. We were confused, the day care was confused. They even sent us videos of him being totally fine the second we left. We eventually concluded that he was just putting on a show. Years later, we now KNOW he was. We have video of him pulling the same b.s. on my sister. Totally fine on the couch, just chilling. Hears my sister pull up, gets off the couch, takes a leisurely stretch before checking on her progress, then saunters his way over to the corner he hides in when upset. By the time she opened the door, he was cowering behind the recliner, shivering like he was terrified. Dogs absolutely can and do lie. It's tougher to spot, but it does happen.

Did you let him watch the Oscars?
@loucm48652 сағат бұрын
I believe you, though that is quite the elaborate ruse. Not quite the same thing, but I had a dog ones who would act sick and pretend to need to vomit so that you would rush to let her outside. However, once she got out she would make a remarkable and complete recovery before trying to make a run for it. The vomiting act was so convincing that it took a couple of attempts for me to work out, what she was actually doing.

Mine pretended that she couldn't walk on her paw for 3 days after she briefly got a sticker in her paw I immediately removed. I had suspicions she was faking so I took her to the vet. They too could find no problem. She walked juuuuust fine outta that vet office smh. . She tried that nonsense one more time with me and I called her bluff and she continued to walk lol She's trying to win that puppy oscar
@sneakypenguin2861Сағат бұрын
My Westie/Shorkie mix would lie all the time, after 1 time that she twisted her ankle and we carried her home on a walk. From then on if she got a bit tired or bored of walking she'd start limping and holding her paw out all pathetically, so we'd carry her for a bit. As soon as she would get home she'd be tearing round the house and garden again 😂 dogs 100% know how to play us

It might be the dog just decided that they didn’t want to be groomed. I had a mini schnauzer that started showing extreme fear going to the groomers. This groomer had a waiting room with a large glass window so I always watched the groomer. Nothing bad happened, she just got afraid for no reason.

All I can say is as the owner of two older cats is they definitely hate stuff more as they age. My boy used to be so well behaved but now he gets fed up and lets me know quickly. Maybe it's just an age thing? I now dread flea treatment every month and the growling starts straight away. She is a lovely dog.

Her behaviour for me bathing her however is like a child thats great at school and a monster at home😂 Your videos have taught me how to deal with her. Ive also got one of those duck shampooers (its amazing) the chris christensen slicker brush ive even found the cat churros you use do dog treats which she loves😂😂😂 Basically you are raising my dog virtually from across the world❤❤❤❤

Lux: "Let's shave the groomer's butt and see if she stays calm..."🤨
@2shy11513 сағат бұрын
Lol! I think that's a very good point. Humans do waxing and they aren't exactly thrilled to get it done. Not sure why people don't empathize with all the grooming and shaving of the sensitive areas on our bodies. You never hear the end of it when a human gets an injury!

Always amazing to watch Vanessa control a tense animal with her voice! Simple commands with the right tone, to the chirps or other sounds she will use to dial back the problem. Glad that a muzzle was not needed! However anytime Vanessa has to put a cat in a happy hoodie and the trouble bubble. Well that is just to funny an image to miss!😂👍

we have an aussie-doodle. he acts very much like this dog while he is being groomed minus the growling. we lost our local groomer and the last 2 grooms we did ourselves. he normally cost $80 a time but after trying to cut him a couple times i would pay 2x that amount for a good grooming. P.S. great job

I agree, i remember my dog suddenly nervous every time we went to the groomer she's been going to as a pup, turns out there was a woman bringing her dog in at the same time, and her dog was severely anxious, guess it rubbed off on my dog lol.
@ladyjustice14743 сағат бұрын
Lux is a cute pup. I wonder if she saw a stressed-out pup at her previous groomer or if her age is making Lux a bit fearful of the groomer.
@SomeoneIusedtoknow-s1fСағат бұрын
I've personally seen multiple salons where curly haired dogs were getting hit, for mild anxious behaviors like trotting in place. Unless the salon owner or manager sees it and are good people, they'd likely also always say it was just poodle or doodle anxiety and not blame the people since poodles and doodles have higher anxiety

It could be anything - picking up stress from other dogs at the groomer, something that happened once on the way to the groomer, even the owners trying to comfort her before going in (like with thunderstorms, offering comfort can suggest that it’s something to fear). I’m sure she feels much better without all those mats.

Took my cat in to get her undercarriage shaved. The groomer at the veterinarian's said she couldn't complete the clean-up because she got too stressed. She always did well all of the other times. She was asleep on her back later that evening when I noticed one very red, sore looking nipple... the groomer said nothing about it to me.

My pup has always been a bit anxious at the groomer, but one experience left him so traumatized that he had stomach issues for a few days. I ended up finding out that there were several dogs getting groomed that day - one of which was highly vocal. Since then, I bring him in right when they open, and it's quieter. It's helped tremendously. Love your videos! Extremely educational. You are so empathetic & truly care about the well-being of each animal.

I obviously have no idea what happened with Lux, but it’s possible that nothing bad happened to her, but if other dogs in the salon had bad things happen to them, or just didn’t like what was happening, that could have set Lux off. Maybe, I’m not sure, I’m not a dog expert

There are two channels I love watching and one of them is yours and Regal Gentleman is the other. I think both of you are in the perfect profession and really connect with each of your clients because you are empaths. Dan is a barber who transforms every man who walks into his salon by really listening and he has magic in his fingers. You do the same for our furry friends and we love that you understand and are able to deal with the particular issues and accommodate their little foibles. I have to admit that I have never taken my cats to a groomer and as they are both rescues I don't want to traumatise them.

No shame intended, it seems this anxious yet fairly well behaved dog reacted most to nail clipping. Do you think she may have been quicked and the owner’s were not informed. As I said no shame, these things happen but would make a dog anxious about the groomer. Especially with the information that she reacted as they arrived at the groomers.

Was the salon a multi-groomer/multi-animal place? Maybe the issue isn't what happened with the GROOMER but what happened with another animal being present, especially if the other animal(s) was/were untrained/nervous and/or aggressive. She's all alone here so not so much to keep track of and no one else to worry about.

What a sweet girl! My daughter's dog is like this. She did have a bad experience at her first groomers that I think came from the anxiety of so many dogs in the salon and too much noise. That salon closed so we had to find a new groomer and she loves this groomer even though she puts on a show whenever she's dropped off and tells tales on pickup! The groomer rarely has more than one dog there at a time and usually it is her personal dog who's with her.
