My grandmother and her sister's immigrated from Girvan to Canada at the turn of the century, and I have heard about Girvan my whole life. I have visited twice, and still have some family there, so I enjoyed this video enormously. I would have liked to have seen the area of the rose garden, as my great grandfather had a small market garden there when he retired from his fishing boat, the Annie Fyfe. Thanks for the memories.

@@aiylah7723 Nice to hear from you. I have been to Girvan twice, so don't imagine I will be coming back again soon. With Covid who know how long it will be before any of us can travel again. Take good care of her for me will you.

I was born into the Gorbals slums. Later on I sometimes made it as far away as Girvan. Didnt realise the folks in old Girvan were so well heeled.❤

Thank you all for the kind comments on my wee video clip - just found out how to leave a comment again 😊 Is great to find out more stuff about my wee town. Didn’t know about the market garden in our Rose Garden, I do have a few images of it and will add them at some point soon. I am also on Facebook as Barney McBride (my wee chihuahua has his page and I’m his ghost writer 🐶🤣).
