Documentary video I made for college showing Girvan in its glory days and the way it is now.

Excellent wee video, thanx. I lived there as a wee boy in it's heyday...left in 1969. I remember The Fifth Dimension, Helter Skelter, Beach Pavillion, Central Cafe, Minerva Cafe, Brown's Amusements and their temporary one at the harbour, Lawrence's Amusements (still there), Mayfair Amusements, The boating pond and paddling pool, the putting green, the Byne Hill and Horse Rocks...memories !!!

You forgot the trampolines......loved Girvan late sixties to about 77....i live in England now and it saddens me when I see videos like this....oh just remembered the witches hat in the park up by the hospital

heart breaking my father was born and raised here , his name is gilbert sloan , we still have family living in girvan , remember has children , spending summer holidays , memories to last a life time , still love the place ,

We had the best out of Girvan late 1960s early 70s Beach pavilion the Hammy very busy wee place during the summers,Still live in the town things have changes but it,s not the only town that has suffered over the years.

oh this is very sad. i chose to come live in this lovely little town 8 years ago and have seen a rapid decline in all facilities.

At least they got rid of most of the gigantic harbour car park where the new leisure centre stands, it opens next month😍😍😍😍- Quite a large building too! And there is now better, more frequent transport and there are many community events during the summer, etc. Its finally getting better.

Its not just Girvan. Its all over. As for tourists ; we dont get the summers we used to and its cheaper to go abroad. SHOPS. Rates are high for such a small Town and most people shop online. FISHING. There is no money in that game now . As for the Council, they really dont give a fuck.

So sad spent the best holidays ever when I was about 19 in Girvan. Went back for about four years in a row. Very happy memories, it should be brought back to life, if we can dump the WM Government maybe it can be.
