It's all part of the game, and we try and use them as a learning experience. None of us are perfect so it can actually be good to learn from our mistakes. Plus, I would have SIGNIFICANTLY fewer choices to pick from games if I had to discard each game with a minor mistake in it lol.

@DarkEinherjar 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was also wondering why Ravos wasn't there... it can't be because he's running a low number of creatures, because the point of Tymna is to swing at your opponents with creatures in the first place. I liked his life shenanigans, though: it's VERY SCARY when someone has the ability to bring you from 40+ to single digits out of nowhere.

I noticed some of you in the comments are wondering why Tymna was alone and not partnered with Ravos. I was wondering the same... until today. Today I did a field test with a Tymna + Ravos deck that I had built but not tested yet... in the end, Ravos never left the command zone, because: 1. One of my opponents had graveyard hate in the form of Crook of Condemnation, and I didn't put too many creatures in my graveyard to begin with; 2. I didn't have enough creatures on my field to make Ravos's pump effect relevant most of the time; 3. I had more efficient means of getting my creatures back (Beacon of Unrest, Sun Titan, etc.); 4. Even if I cast it, Ravos was probably going to eat a low-cost removal spell or activation before my next turn, which might as well be the same as getting countered. So, yeah... in the end, Ravos doesn't work as well with Tymna as I thought it would. That 5 CMC really hurts him, he's too frail and there are better ways to get creatures back. Tymna is fine on her own, and the only good use I see for Ravos in this partnership is to let Tymna go to the graveyard when she becomes too expensive to cast from the command zone, then use Ravos to get her into your hand.
@Lucrios

they mean theres no reason not to run him because it automatically removes 1 card (deck thinning) he never has to leave the field u just have a 1% chance higher at drawing the card u want. I know it's an old vid but just letting you know

I was going to make a Gitrog deck and was buying a bunch of "put additional lands into play" cards and then I got Tatyova for my Kruphix deck and thought I should try her out as a commander and stuck those cards into that deck. She's insane. I'm dropping three or four lands a turn and drawing three or four cards and gaining three or four life and then I draw more cards and make more mana and the next thing I know, I've got twenty or thirty cards in my hand and tons of mana to cast whatever I want and everyone else is at five or six lands and then I drop an Avenger of Zendikar and Rite of Replicate it before my turn starts and then drop a few lands and then play a Craterhoof on my turn and blast everyone for four or five hundred damage each. It's great. You should try her out.

An interesting thought, Tymna is cool by herself but Mat had nothing to lose by parting her with Ravos, it's an extra card to use, or maybe a slow reanimator engine / a way to get more walue . . .

Tymna felt like it could've been more politically active as a deck but the way Mat played her made him seem more like a target than anything. The list was cool, but I've always found that the downfall of attacking people to make triggers happen like drawing cards or making tokens often turns you into a HUGE target at most tables. I play Tana, the Bloodsower as a commander with no partner. People are terrified when she lands one hit, let alone two or more. I think Tymna would've been killed several times in my playgroup before drawing any cards. It's tough to make commanders with no protection stick when they are so small and easily die in combat or to early spot removal- especially since they're actually really good when they land a hit.
@DarkEinherjar
@DarkEinherjar 6 жыл бұрын
Tymna has several advantages over Tana that more than justify it: she costs less mana, is in the colors that have both graveyard recursion and the means to protect her, and doesn't have to go to the front lines herself in order to benefit from her triggers (you can attack with a cheap flier and still draw your cards, leaving Tymna safe from harm).
