So, here's an important lesson: All things being equal, if an opponent has both Mirari's Wake and Zendikar Resurgent out, you should probably take out the Zendikar Resurgent. +1/+1 to all creatures is generally wayless dangerous than letting them draw a card every time they cast a creature, and if they regrow the Resurgent, it costs 7 to Mirari's 5, so it'll cost them more to play it again. But mostly the on-cast card draw trigger.

Bryan would not draw from Deathreap Ritual when Alesha “died” from Vindicate as she went to the command zone, which is a replacement effect, so it didn’t actually die.

Rules stuff: Alesha doesn't trigger morbid when she goes to the command zone. Rishkar's Expertise isn't a creature, so soul manipulation cannot counter it. Muddstah should gain 18 life from Momentous Fall, as it should still be doubled. Muddstah should have an extra floating mana from casting mirari's wake on turn ten. Bryan should be making some extra saprolings on end steps with floating mana with all those overrun anthem effects in his deck. He misses a lethal twice because of it. Sometimes the play is just to have a bunch of dudes and murder people, especially when Trostani gains so much life every turn. I think the right play is still to force Muddstah to altar to get blockers out of the way, but I'm not actually sure what Jeff can do to you with your deck rolling and at such high life totals. As always, I love your videos Muddstah. Keep on doing your thing =D

I'm surprised everyone kept targeting Mirari's Wake instead of Zendikar Resurgent... sure, pumping creatures may be a nuisance, but drawing a card for every creature cast sounds even more dangerous to me.

One note with Coat of Arms and Mirror Entity, the thopters would have been much larger, as it gives them all every creature type. Harsh Sustenance wouldn't have killed the entity and each creature would have been size 25/25 or something like that.

Also Bryan shouldn't have drawn off of Deathreap Ritual for killing Alesha. If a commander 'dies' and gets sent to the command zone. Being returned to the command zone is a replacement effect - they never actually went to the graveyard and thus don't trigger those abilities. That's a really common slip-up, I know, because even if you're aware of that rule it's still very unintuitive and easy to forget.

It really came together and it is interesting to see it´s development from your Conquering the Commander video up to this point. There is nothing more fun in EDH-deck building than doing something certain colour combination really isn´t supposed to do. Waiting to see how good Bramble Sovereign is in the deck. Do you also run Helm of the Host or do you find it a bit too clunky?

I think Jeff should have tutored for Murderous Red on Turn 7, and cast it w/ his 4 open mana. Cast Alesha turn 8, attack, recur Anafenza, forcing the table to deal with a combo piece or lose on the spot. Alesha is nasty; even budget builds have several great combos. It's hard to see the right line without playing a ton of games.
@MTGMuddstah6 жыл бұрын
Yup! It's a tough call sometimes and we can easily get lost in the moment and miss some lines on occasion.

It feels good to know that whenever I play an esper deck usually Oloro or Sen Trips I’m not the only one who gets bolted down to death early on because the deck is too much of a threat. Tell/Reccomend Jamison to make Oloro the commander and add a few cards to abuse his totally not eminence, eminence effect so he has more life to survive getting bolted down while he draws some tutors to find the triplets. And also have more resources.

1. Deathreap ritual, and any morbid triggers for that matter, don't trigger off Commanders hitting the Command zone, as Alesha did. 2. You would have gained 18 life, not 9 from the momentous fall on terastodon, as Rhox Faithmender was on your battlefield. 3. Coat of arms affects ALL creatures, and mirror entity turns creatures into ALL creature types, as well as making them base x/x, so all creatures on the field (and more importantly, the attacking ones) would have grown considerably. On this same point, your elephant token hitting the field would have gained you more life.
