Body Butter Testimonial: I am a sewing teacher and am extremely self-conscious about my lizard skin hands especially when I am working with students on their projects. I used your recipe to make Homemade Body Butter and thought I had screwed up because it is quite hard and butter-like. This is absolutely not a problem... I scoop it out of the jar with a little wooden spatula and rub it into my hands then wear cotton gloves to bed at night. In the morning my hands look like somebody else’s hands. I love it, I love you, and I love your knowledge, and your positivity!! Thank-you so much Gittemary! Also...”conscious goodie bags”... bring it on!! Lastly, your thrifted chair and writing desk are great finds!! Awesome new background!!

To not have the issue of scrubbing hard body balm from a jar you can make body balm bars, just instead of jar pour it in a cake form and then divide into smaller ones or use a cupcake form. Then you can just rub it all over the body:)

(Copied ) Hey! As someone who loves the bees, is a beekeeper and vegan, etc, I want to clarify for all the other vegans out there to please, please use bee products, and make sure to purchase them from local beekeeping communities! Remember when all the bees were dying? 90% of the conservation efforts to save them were from beekeepers and other specialists in diseases such as Colony Collapse Disorder. If the honey, beeswax, and bee pollen industry weren't well supported we would very well be facing mass extinction of the honey bee right now (to highlight the severity, 80-90% of the honey bee population in central Maryland died during 2017-2018). Bee products are overproduced within the colony, and beekeepers are constantly finding new ways to sustainably retrieve this excess, or else it goes to waste. Contrary to popular belief in the vegan community, this does not harm the bees at all (many keepers no longer use smokers, or are converting to better resources like Flow Hives). Honey is also more sustainable than a lot of other natural sweeteners, such as agave and maple syrup. Purchasing locally supports your local bee colonies, and is the sole reason our bee population is healthy and alive today! So please check out your local communities and do some research on your own to see, even if you don't want to use bee products, if there are ways to support your local bees :)

Isidora Krsmanovic - there is a contrary view, that urban bees are endangering wild bees and are not saving the environment. Article below theconversation.com/keeping-honeybees-doesnt-save-bees-or-the-environment-102931
@riyakumar89324 жыл бұрын
@@paulveg8524 That article doesn't say that beekeeping is bad. Everything needs balance and moderation. What it IS saying is that amateur beekeeping is dangerous when you are not a professional and don't know what you are doing. You can harm the native/wild bees because of improper beekeeping. BUT there are beekeepers out there that are very environmentally conscious and are doing what they can to help bees both wild and domesticated. The two messages the article was really trying to get across is that beekeeping is more complicated than you think and you should leave it to the professionals, and also that we should all be growing more flowers (without pesticides and such) in our gardens to support all the bees in our communities because that is the largest problem for bees right now.

I have some wide varieties of environmental allergies with many of them being pollens. So far the only thing that combats my allergies has been consuming about 1 tbsp of honey a day that I only purchase from a local small business beekeeper who is based less than 5 miles from where I live. Granted, I did try for nearly two years of getting allergy shots but it wasn't successful in the long run so I went back to purchasing the honey from my local beekeeper and it seems to be the best thing that helps in alleviating my pollen allergy issues when in combination with hydroxyzine.

@monyscell83524 жыл бұрын
@Maria - I've heard that problem referred to as "sensitivity" so many times and it makes me want to scream (not at you.. lol). That is NOT sensitivity to the baking soda - it's a YEAST INFECTION that results when too many bacteria are killed by the baking soda - the bacteria are what keep the yeast (fungus) in check. Using less baking soda or even better, none at all (try milk of magnesia deodorant instead) is how to prevent it. Is you've got the itchy yeast infection, stop using the deodorant and put coconut oil with tea tree essential oil to clear it up. Hope this helps clear up that misconception.

But using honey is a good thing, it's helping beekeepers to take care of our diminishing bee population. Without bees we are seriously in trouble in food production. I mean I'm diabetic and I still buy a small container of raw unpastuerized honey every year from our local health food store to support that beekeeper. I just messaged "We Love Deorant" To see if they ship to the USA and other countries. I suggested they offer shipping through Amazon.com. waiting for reply atm. For the Toothtabs, you could always make small gift baskets of zero waste products to give to someone for their birthday, for a holiday or just to cheer them up. Put some in a small jar, some other homemade goodies. Great way to spread the love of zero waste/sustainability.

@Gittemary4 жыл бұрын
I don’t entirely agree with your point about honey. Yes to some extent small independent bee farmers can have a possible impact on biodiversity but honey produced as an ingredient on a massive scale has the opposite effect. Large-scale honey production uses 1 type of bee which has created a mono-culture which is really harmful to the natural bee population. It also makes the industrial population of bees more vulnerable because they are vulnerable to the same diseases and toxins aka massive deaths when diseases spread on the farms :( so something to have in mind 🤷🏼♀️

Great job on the planting, argh I wish I had a garden :((!! But that's why saying "honey production is good for the bees" can be misleading, because the majority of how honey is produced is not with the well-being of nature, or the bees, in mind, sadly 🌿🙈

I have a deodorant from We love the planet, it's packed in cardboard, it has such a nice smell (it's the sensitive one), it has so many natural ingredients, it's not tested on animals... and I thought "this is the one, the perfect one!". Over the last months, I've been trying so many "natural" deodorants, but none of them worked for me. So yes, I was so happy with this one, but it disappointed me as well as the other ones. Even if I use it at home where I don't do any physical efforts and I apply it overnight, the next morning I smell :( So for me it doesn't work. The deodorant topic is very tricky because what works for you may not work for the others; this is why I consider it irrelevant to have this or any other deodorant in your top.

I was surprised and disappointed that you would use and promote the brand 'LUSH'. The reason it smells like bubblegum is because they use toxic, synthetic, petroleum based fragrance and they do not disclose exactly what ingredients they use for scents so they may also use animal products...you have no idea. They 'hide' behind the excuse that they need to protect their proprietary formula. This is how unethical and corner cutting brands can use whatever cheap and toxic ingredient they want without having to disclose what they use to the customer. As well, this same issue applies to whatever they use to make their products the crazy bright colors they are...those colors do not appear in natural ingredients. They can use any toxic, chemical dye and do not disclose what they are using. If you would like to understand more about this issue and how industries use this 'loop hole' to hide whatever ingredients they do not want consumers to know they are using...please watch the documentary on Netflix called 'STINK'.

I did a great deal of research before deciding whether or not I wanted to keep using Lush products, so I completely understand why you are worried about the brand. However, I don't think that just because something is synthetic does not automatically make it bad, just like just before something is natural does not make it healthy. It's completely okay to not want to use their products, but personally I am okay with it. Shelbizle also did a video on them that's worth a watch! 😊👍
