Great info, I hope it's something we can get in our tenant, this would resolve so many issues we're having with providing access to external business partners.

@@DeLucaGiulian You're more than welcome. I do have one question btw. Currently I have guest members from external orgs in some of my channels, which means they have to constantly switch orgs. I am going to change the channel to a shared channel. Should I delete the guests from my AAD before inviting them back in to the new shared channel?
@DeLucaGiulian2 жыл бұрын
It should work without removing existing guests

Does anyone know what level of access a team has that is added to a shared channel? Are they all members of the channel by default or does it take on the access level they have on the team it was shared to?
@DeLucaGiulian Жыл бұрын
Hi, During the creation of the shared channel you have to specify if you want to grant access to everyone in team or not. The shared channel has its own team-independent permissions.

Hi Giuliano, thanks for the video! What i find hard to understand is why you have to allow b2b direct connect for Shared Channels. This is not necessary when you invite an external member to a Team. So why is this necessary for only a channel. Now i run into the problem that counterparts at other companies don't know about these settings so inviting their coworkers in a shared channel comes with a lot of explaining to do. Curious if anybody reading this has the answer. Thanks in advance

Hi, Thank you for watching. If you are planning to invite external users in a shared channel the configuration in the Azure Active Directory is needed, you can find all info her: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/shared-channels#limits-for-shared-channels
@stormlight15532 жыл бұрын
I thinks it because if you dont do the B2b connect setting the user can still join the channel but they have to switch their teams profile to be your company. When they do this they lose access to there own teams chats rooms ect. If you open B2B then when they join your shared channel they still see all the channels\chats from their domain.

I'm not sure if it is propagation time, but I have shared channels showing up as available to be created on 2 different tenants that I have with public preview enabled. I created shared channels on both to test but I cannot invite users from each tenant over, it cannot find a contact with the email address when I try to add. odd.. I've opened a support case with MS to check if this is a bug

After the configuration in the Azure Active Directory to invite external users normally it takes some time
@thebiscuittin2 жыл бұрын
There is a note in this MS doc stating that changes to B2B may take 3hrs15mins to take effect. docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/solutions/collaborate-teams-direct-connect?view=o365-worldwide

Is there any particular reason why you put the emojis at the end of a channel ? 🥇Channel vs Channel 🥇
@DeLucaGiulian Жыл бұрын
Hi Frédéric, I faced some issues with the search when an emoji is placed before the text, and normally when you need to search something you start writing text and not emojis. Probably now these issues are fixed but I have not tested them yet.

once ive added a user to a shared channel, where to I see that this specific user is part of the channel ? all i can see in the team settings is that he is member of the teams... though he s not part of the teams (he cannot see the general channel and any other public channel) thx
@DeLucaGiulian2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff, If you add a user to a shared channel that is not member of the team, he/she will get access only to the shared channel, and you can find him/her under manage channel.
@side547232 жыл бұрын
@@DeLucaGiulian thank you ! just found it too. I would have liked an information in the team's member list, highlithing that a user is only allowed for a shared channel (i could think he is a team Member)
@Worrelpa2 жыл бұрын
@@side54723 this is where Shared channels falls down as a shared channel is always attached to the team it was created in. However it can have completely seperate membership / ownership from that Team it was created in. Meaning the team owner can lose visibility of the channel entirely. Which from a teams lifecycle perspective is a key problem. As the team owner could decide to archive or delete the team not knowing there is a shared chan el attached. Once they archive or delete the shared channel goes with it.

The shared channels options are all turned on in Teams Admin centre, but the option to create a shared channel isn't appearing when I try to create a new channel. Do you know why that may be?
@DeLucaGiulian2 жыл бұрын
Hi John, The reason is that, the roll out in your Tenant is not yet completed. Try to check again in the next days.

@@DeLucaGiulian I think users may also need developer preview enabled on the tenant for teams clients, at least accordingly to Microsoft documentation. I did that to test on a tenant and now the shared channel is available to be created

Hi, It is probably turned off for your organization. You can ask to your it admins to enable the feature

This feature is currently in public preview. You'll need to make sure that the Teams update policy "Show preview features" is set to Enabled in your admin center.
