Give Me An Answer with Stuart & Cliffe Knechtle

Күн бұрын

Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This was an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

Hey, all I know is that when I became "born again"..my old vices don't rule me anymore...and I'm able to forgive others of some very deep wounds..My battle is no longer with people. I'm free...its a process..its love, its having a heart for others... it is challenging at times...but it is reality to me.. Christ in me.

I'm currently struggling with porn. I've noticed an improvement since I started being more serious in my commitment to Christ, but it's still a struggle. What's quite scary is I've even had times when, mid-temptation, God/Jesus crosses my mind, and yet I STILL fail. That's scary, but nevertheless, I've noticed an improvement since regaining a more serious commitment to Christ... I pray to do better next time temptation rolls around. And the time after that. And the time after that. Ad infinitum. Maybe at some point, the temptation won't even be there in the first place, that would be great, but even if that doesn't happen I pray to be equipped to overcome such temptations.

People always assume that people hundreds of years ago were idiots and didn't understand their own language, much less how to read. But, these people had nothing to do all day, no distractions, no Internet. They perfected the arts, they made better bread, they had the most prolific philosophers. I guarantee you, they copied the scriptures correctly, I guarantee you that more than 10% knew how to read and I promise you that this current generation is not wiser.

Cliffe asked "why does it[love] have to mutual?" Sure you can subscribe to the ethical egoist view that one should act only out of self interest, however it is inconsistent with the belief that anybody should treat you well. If you believe that you should be treated well (which is a necessary thing if you want to live a comfortable life), to be logically consistent you must also admit that anybody (actually everybody) should be treated well, and that.That gives you a reason to treat others well.

@ 6:00 Cliffe talks about attributes of God and why did he create us. He uses the example of love, and yes I believe that God can express love to Himself because God is made up of 3 persons. But there are things that a Holy God can not show to himself, for example ..... Grace. God, being holy, possesses grace but He does not need grace and thus doesn't have a way to show it to Himself. God also does not need mercy or forgiveness. These attributes God can demonstrate by offering them to us, fallen people who need them. This is just one reason that God created us.
@stevelovesgod
@stevelovesgod 7 жыл бұрын
Steven Young they may not be a reason he created us, but a reason he saved us. He could have created us because he wanted to make a kingdon. It's like us creating an ant farm with intricate ways for the ants to get food. Ppl ask why do that? We'll know once God defeats hell and death in his kingdom on earth, after the 2nd resurrection.

He didn’t base any argument on ufo’s existing or not existing did he? UFO’s have no impact on Yeshua. UFO’s are not new and did not need any government to make them credible. Government is the least trusting source to rely on. The Fallen angels have been using technology for millennia. They have created the final deception. There are most certainly aliens, but they are not who they claim to be and are not from where they claim. They are a lame deception orchestrated by Fallen Angels. This is a real material deception in the physical perpetrated by Lucifer and the Fallen Angels to deceive and destroy. They are not from “outer space” like pop culture taught you. Of course governments are releasing info now because they are run by the ruler of this earth - Lucifer. The deception has been in the works for centuries. Turn to Yeshua, He is faithful to respond and wash you of your sins. -Blessings

Technically, hell isn't necessarily "torture". Hell is simply full separation from God, because God's holy nature is incompatible with unrepentant sin. However, because all goodness comes from God in the first place, hell is essentially a place devoid of any good. That's why Christians describe hell as a kind of despair that no one could imagine, and the imagery of a fiery pit and physical pain is simply a metaphor.

The thing is, for this question you can't use the bible. That's the point. You have to use your own reason and conscience. And every time I ask that of a believer it becomes immediately obvious that they are afraid to do that. They are somehow afraid to use their own mind to answer this, or maybe they're afraid to answer it because it involves a hypothetical that they are wrong about their bible. But if you truly believe you worship a loving and moral god, you need to seriously consider this.

Well, it would depend on the myth or fictional universe we are talking about. In Star Wars, there is the Force, which entails its own version of this afterlife. So I suppose I'd have to ask you what the qualities of an afterlife would be according to your beliefs, because there are so many others to go off of.

If truth is relative, and you act based on what you "feel" then you can't tell a sadist that he is wrong for causing pain to someone, because that gives him pleasure. I mean, not all people think alike, I'm lucky i'm not brought up in a violent environment. but how about those who loves the thrill of inflicting violence . What's stopping them from exercising their relativism? If society is the ultimate source of morality, and what if society suddenly decides that eating fetus is beneficial to health, just like they have in China, what will it be like.

Lhara Mae ‘All truth is relative’, that statement either includes itself or excludes itself. If it includes itself then that means that statement is also relative which means it is not always true. If it excludes itself then it is posing an absolute while denying that absolutes actually exist. So when one says that all truth is relative, one either includes it or excludes it and either way, you have destroyed the idea. It is a self-defeating proposition. - Ravi Zacharias

ok, like which questions? it seems to me like people who refute him, can't actually pin point the error in his questions because they hold up to exploration.
