Give Me An Answer with Stuart & Cliffe Knechtle

Күн бұрын

Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

If you see a car you know it has a builder. You didn’t see him build it- Doesn’t mean he doesn’t exist. Just because you want to take the car apart and find out exactly how it was put together by the builder and came to be -doesn’t make the builder any less capable of being the initial builder.

Well said - the girl seems to think that once we “know” everything suddenly God does not exist. Knowledge does not eliminate God. She needs to be more specific with her argument. Or better yet, she needs to humble herself and stop following the way of the world. Worshipping knowledge is idol worship. Knowledge is good to pursue, but it is not the ultimate answer for our souls. Hope she finds God.

If it is all subjective & relative, then the girl wearing the glasses would not have been arguing with Cliffe. She should have just thought, that he has his subjectivity and I have my subjectivity and not tried to take the moral high ground over & against Cliffe. She refuted herself. Someone always wants to take the moral high ground. Atheism refutes itself because no one can fully live out subjectivity and relativity.

God was once approached by a scientist who said, “Listen God, we’ve decided we don’t need you anymore. These days we can clone people, transplant organs and do all sorts of things that used to be considered miraculous.” God replied, “Don’t need me huh? How about we put your theory to the test. Why don’t we have a competition to see who can make a human being, say, a male human being.” The scientist agrees, so God declares they should do it like he did in the good old days when he created Adam. “Fine” says the scientist as he bends down to scoop up a handful of dirt.” “Whoa!” says God, shaking his head in disapproval. “Not so fast. Can the universe have come into existence without a god you ask ? Certainly there are many possible explanations I'll give you several different ones to choose from. Starting off with the more accepted scientific, before moving on to the more UNUSUAL shall we say .ok here goes. (1) theists say god is eternal therefore you already accept the concept of eternity. Great so we can just go with "the cosmos has always existed. Occams razor and all that, no need to complicate things eh. FAB (2) one of the many totally plausable hypotheses of big bang , multiverse, constant cycles of contraction & expansion, ect ect. That require absolutely nothing supernatural. (3) There is a universe creating magical frog that lives in the pond at the bottom of my garden. He pretends that he is just like all the other normal frogs that live there. However he revealed himself to me & only me in a personal revelation. I think that puts me one step ahead of you because I can at least show you the pond & a frog . Can you show me heaven & a god ? (4) About 500 million light years past the milky way there is a planet . And way underground in caves on this planet there lives a tribe of invisible leprechauns. They spend their days FARTING , and these FARTS smell like lemon curd. But every third fart then turns into a galaxy, incredible. Can you prove that those FARTS dont smell like lemon curd eh can you ? Can you ? Because if you can't it must therefore be true .😀. (5) I JUST DONT KNOW , and neither does anyone else. So until we can prove the answer definitively one way or another, we dont get to just say "god did it" because you may aswell just say ITS MAGIC . The mere concept of a god creates way way more questions than it could ever possibly answer

This theory has many issues. (3) you may be able to show us a frog, but I’d this frog capable of defeating death? (4) where did you hear of these leprechauns? Early on in this clip Cliffe commends Mohammed, even saying that he has high respect for him. This is going too far. In point of fact, Mohammed was in many respects quite a vile person. He was, if Islamic Sira literature is to be believed, a greedy, violent, and sexually perverse man. I have no idea why Cliffe is working so hard to "play nice" about the progenitor of the world's most violent and oppressive religion, but he ends up praising an evil man in doing so.

@nwaikikai
@nwaikikai 9 жыл бұрын
+dulcimer22 No, I am not a New Zealander. Why do you ask? We are most certainly to love our enemies - but in truth. And the truth about Mohammed is that he was a bloodthirsty pedophile. Really, it is a far more politic thing to gloss over the truth about Mohammed, as Cliffe did, than to state the facts about him as I did. You seem to want to follow Cliffe's example, but that would make you equally political, which is exactly what you seemed to be condemning.
@dulcimer22
@dulcimer22 9 жыл бұрын
Jon Hay Lol, it's "political" to say "let's let God handle the politics?" You said we are "most certainly to love our enemies", but hypocritically went on to get very negative about your enemy. It was nothing to you to speak horribly about crimes that got a fellow human severely punished. That isn't loving at all. Whatever the truth is about Mohamed & what he was like, he was attached to an evil spirit of the sort causing humans to sin outrageously & be dragged to Hell! Scripture says God does not rejoice about it, & that is also the truth. You use the word "gloss" to judge a fellow Christian's public testimony. He's following the Holy Spirit as best he knows. Jesus also said only God knows the heart & is the perfect judge of people according to the light they are given. We are to cover our brother's sins, not expose them, even if Cliffe were to get things wrong. As for the way you wish to judge me, the key word is "seem", which makes all information following it the "What If News", lol! I actually DO condemn being political, I don't want to be seen as just "seeming" to condemn it, because as I said, it's God's province to judge & fix both people & nations. It's our job to spread the Good News about eternal life & love our neighbours, as Cliffe is doing, & beyond that to cherish a "white hot love of the brethren" & last time I checked, Cliffe was one of those, so adopt an attitude of covering his sins already. He can look for merit in any fellow human & not be doing wrong at all. Even Adolph Hitler loved dogs, & Jeffery Dahmer was filmed petting the family kitty, & if loving animals was their only merit, what a heart-break for their Creator! You don't have the power to even vote outside your precinct for any besides your local law enforcement provision. Let the One who maintains the Fallen Angel Prison be the one who decides the fate of Mohamed & his sad followers. So I'm going to say again: Lol, it's "political" to say "let's let God handle the politics?"
@nwaikikai
@nwaikikai 9 жыл бұрын
dulcimer22 I don't understand why so many Christians have moved into the sort of thinking you espouse. It's not biblical; that is, it is not representative of the whole counsel of Scripture. You are magnifying certain commands of God at the expense of others without good justification for doing so. It seems you think love ought to trump truth but we are told in Scripture to love "in truth." You are not truly loving when you deny or ignore the truth. And the truth about Mohammed, at least in part, is that he was a butcher of human beings and a sexual pervert. Glossing over these facts is not truthful and therefore not truly loving. Also, Mohammed was not simply the prisoner of an evil spirit, forced against his will to do the evil things he did. If this were the case, God would not have judged Mohammed with eternal punishment, but the demon that made him do what was evil. But this isn't, if we believe the Bible, what happened with Mohammed. Mohammed chose the wickedness he lived out and for this reason he is the one who suffers God's punishment. It is God's domain to judge in an eternal way, to consign people to their final and eternal destination. But Jesus himself commanded us to "judge righteous judgment." (Jn. 7:24) We are to "reprove, rebuke and exhort" (2Ti. 4:2) and to "expose the unfruitful works of darkness." (Eph. 5:11) If you think it is loving to ignore these commands, you don't understand godly love.

Love is synonymous with Truth, & the truth is that Yahushua Ha Mashiach is coming to set up His Eternal Kingdom & fix Evil finally & forever. We are to prepare for this & spread the Good News that He is coming. He set the example for how to do that, & showed the result of it, that humans will react against it, the worst of them will even kill you for it. His character is to love those deceived Human Enemies, not fight them, but give them a chance to repent, accept God's Spirit & be changed. Have you not read all the testimonies on here, where they sneaked into western countries intending harm, but were won over by the kind treatment they got? Authorities set up by God will keep order, but the Kingdom of Love DOES trump them, & God will even step on the free will of leaders in that capacity, in the invisible places, since they dare to stand in HIS place over the people. That is the whole point of "praying for authorities"...

What she did say was that the god of the gaps fallacy is a valid argument. Nope. What she did say is morality is subjective & therefore my morals are right & those others I cannot call wrong. That is not subjective morality. I heard another way of putting that question Cliffe used is, 'Is it ever moral to torture & kill a child for fun?'. Saying other people might hold it as such is dodging the question. You could hold your subjective morality & others theirs & there still be an objective morality. So answer the question. Is that question objectively true or not? Think about it. I think she did not look past her bias. I could be wrong, but from this, it is the only logical conclusion. Hard to know if she could be right with those arguments, as they dodged the question. Cliffe is right, because his argument holds & was not successfully challenged. He answered it. Great stuff.

Every time when Yahweh ordered His people to wipe out entire tribes - Every time these tribes were the seed of nephilim. SEE GENESIS 6. They were the corrupted seed that Yahweh did not put on the earth. They are the offspring of the Fallen Angels and human women. These tribes were never intended to be on the earth. Start with Genesis 6. Every time Yahweh wiped out people by Himself, or with His people, He was destroying the offspring of Fallen Angels and Women. This is why Noah was considered Tamim. . . Which is Hebrew for unblemished or perfect. God was referring to Noah’s unchanged DNA because Noah’s ancestry was faithful and did not intermingle with the Fallen Angels. This is why Yahweh flooded the earth but kept Noah. You really need to start becoming a better researcher and student of Truth and History. Spouting out your limited ethical ego comments are not teaching you or anyone else anything. You need to start with Genesis chapter 6 before you rush to think yourself so high and ethical. You reveal you do not even understand the Bible that you so passionately claim to know to justify your ego ethics. Study deeper before you speak. Check out Genesis chapter 6. And also checkout Proverbs 18 : 13. - Blessings

This woman doesnt understand objective morality. She and many atheists contradict themselves when they scream and shout objective morality. Cliffe is 100% correct. Rights and wrongs ONLY apply to facts or objective items. Rights and wrongs dont apply to subjective items. The earth is spherical in shape, that is a fact. If i say my opinion is that the earth is flat, then i am wrong. I am ONLY wrong, because i made a claim (opinion)in regards to a fact, that is the shape of the earth. We can compare my claim to the objective fact (shape of the earth). But opinions in relation to subjective items dont have rights or wrongs attached to them. For example, if i said that my opinion is that Jessica Alba is better looking that Jennifer Anniston, then am i right or wrong? Neither. Is it a FACT that 1 woman is better looking than the other? No, its not a fact. Beauty is subjective. If morality is also subjective, then claiming child rape as wrong is incoherent, because, as the subjectivist wants to say, that morality is subjective, there is no right or wrong. If morality is not factual, then what are you comparing your opinion against? It doesnt work.

The one distinct thing I notice about Jesus is that you do NOT get to heaven by being “good”. This is truly unique and it keeps the ego of man from trying to boast and ascend by his pride. Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: We all have the power to forgive sin up to a certain extent, but it doesn’t make us Gods using the verse above I’ll give an example: if my friend does something to hurt me or does me wrong, I have a choice to either forgive them or hold it against them but if I choose to hold it against them. than the wrong that I have done God will hold against me, but if I choose to forgive than I am forgiven. With all this I have a big problem with how christians believe we will be judged by God & they believe without Jesus than you doom to be judged, but what did Jesus say if you do not judge than you will not be judged if you forgive than you will be forgiven. So by my understanding in order to not be judged you just need to not judge others & forgive than God forgives you.

Devil’s advocate question here: Is it fair to say “life coming from non-life isn’t rationale/logical” when scripture says God is spirit - meaning he is immaterial and probably not what we would deem as life from a physical/material perspective? I understand the “life comes from life” reasoning but doesn’t the divinity of God remove him from the material “life” category? Just a thought. Also, I don’t think it’s possible to convince people of an objective morality using an example or scenario (i.e. abusing innocent children), because there will always be some morally bankrupt person who may not agree. It kind of leans on arguing from majority which just falls back into subjective morality, right?
@christoffesedao3579
@christoffesedao3579 2 жыл бұрын
I can tell you are thinking 👍 . . . But please re-examine your question. You are claiming that we cannot use a scenario to prove objective morality because someone might disagree. If we are consulting people then that would still be subjective morality. We do not consult other humans for objective morality. We only consult with The Most High and The Scriptures for objective morality. His laws are where our respect for other human lives and boundaries come from. -Blessings

@@christoffesedao3579 Yes, I see what you mean and I agree. However, it seemed as if Cliffe was trying to convince his listeners that, objectively, abusing children is always wrong. So, in that sense he was trying to create a consensus with man (subjective morality) instead of bringing them back to the authority of Scripture as The Most High’s revelation of His objective morality. Does that make sense? I guess my point is that it is futile to try and get an objective consensus in a subjective way. Right?

Here is a question i wonder about sometimes. If, as we're told, Jesus died for our sins, how does that work in reality?, On the day after he died on the cross, did the population of the world wake up to being sinless?, how did this great sacrifice manifest itself? To the best of my knowledge, no writer or historian of the day wrote about this momentous event. From what I can ascertain, life went on pretty much as it did the day before Jesus died for our sins. Also, If you sacrifice something, you give it away not to be returned, yet, Jesus ends up in heaven, so how is that a sacrifice?. Now if it so happened he ended up in eternal Hell, that indeed would be a great sacrifice.. albeit a terrible price to pay. It's also worth mentioning, I personally would not want someone to sacrifice ( or pay) for my wrongdoing, if I'm in the wrong, then i should pay for my wrongdoing.

+Brij Prasad Isn't that a bit like a Mafia threat though Brij, what you're saying is like "Hey, you'd better accept Jesus as your savior, otherwise things will get pretty tough for you". I'm told it's a 'free will' choice, but if it's truly a free will choice it shouldn't have any coercion or threat attached to it. ( which the Jesus offer certainly does). If I offer you a free will choice of accepting a chocolate candy or a vanilla candy, you have a true free will choice, you can even reject both if you wish, there is no comeback whatsoever, the 'free will' choice that Christianity is offering comes with massive coercion, ..accept what I'm offering or you will be severely beaten up if you don't take it ( the mafia offer). Brij, am I free to say Thanks, but no thanks to your offer as I see no credible evidence and happily go on my way?. If I came to your house and said, hey, Mr Prasad, I have some wonderful news, if you pay me the wonderful low price of $10 a week, I will give you total house protection against your house being burnt down. But If you don't, I cannot guarantee some nasty people I know might set fire to your house one night. Am I giving you a free will choice?. I treasure my honesty, and with all sincerity, if I accepted your offer of accepting Christ as my savior, I know deep down I would not be being truthful to myself. My honesty is non negotiable my friend.

You say God commands everyone to seek him, well, I've sought him, and not found a scrap of evidence. Obviously it would appear that I'm not one of the saved. But even knowing that, it makes no difference to my life, I will still treat people with utmost respect and live my life showing kindness and love to others, I do this not for any kind of gratification from God ( how can i if i believe he doesn't exist), I do it for the love of humanity and for other sentient beings I share the planet with.
