I'm an Atheist but I have the utmost admiration and respect for Cliffe Knechtle, some of my fellow Atheists disagree with me when I say this but I think that Cliffe presents a much more compelling case for his beliefs than a lot of other Christians that I have listened to, I even have more respect for Cliffe than some of my fellow Atheists to be honest Lol but putting aside likes and dislikes because in fairness, it's not just about that, it's really about what is true and what is not, irrespective of whether we like the people that are presenting the truth proposal or not, I've just been much more persuaded by the case for Atheism because of the better evidence, now, having said that, my position could all change tomorrow if my experience changes, everything is about what people experience in their lives, if someone has an experience of God, then of course that person will believe there is a God, if someone, like myself, hasn't had any experience of God, then (surprise surprise) they won't believe in God and at the moment I don't believe in God, sorry, I wish I could say otherwise but I'm not going to lie, if God or Jesus really exist then they would know I was lying if I said I believed when I don't, so all I'm saying to God really is IF you exist, IF you really are there, then show yourself and I'll truly believe, if you don't then I can't really believe, I could fake it but I presume this God doesn't want fake believers correct?
@bonnie43uk9 жыл бұрын
+John Cashin Yes, i tend to agree with you John ( fellow atheist here). I think mankind has had a propensity to believe in some form of God for many thousands of years, we can see this all over the world in different cultures on every continent. But the more we discover about the planet we live on, and just how big the universe is, the thought that a Christian God is looking down on us, and unless we accept his son Jesus as our savior, we are all hellbound or damned for eternity in some way, it makes no sense to me, and it doesn't fit with reality. Forcing someone to believe using threats of hell doesn't seem conducive to getting to the truth.

Charles B Thanks, I would be happy to stop being an Atheist too, all this God has to do is give me a reason to rationally justify believing he exists, it really shouldn't be that difficult for a being as infinitely powerful as this God should be to show himself to me in such a way that I will be convinced, yet, I'm afraid so far he has failed and has also failed with many other Atheists too, otherwise nobody would be an Atheist, most people are not Atheists because they want to be, there is very little to be gained out of having no belief in God or life after death, in fact, that thought is quite depressing, so I would love to believe in it all but at the same time, I am not going to believe in something just because I want to believe it, that's called deluded, I need to be able to rationally justify it first, then I will cheerfully believe it, an omniscient being should know this anyway.

+John Cashin John you are one of the most honest speaking atheists I've ever heard. I mean that. I appreciate your thoughts and will pray God will open your eyes like he did mine. (Which was a miracle in itself let me tell ya) Glad to have you here and look forward to hearing more of your thoughts.

+John Cashin Have you read Lee Strobel book "The Case for Christ"? It's a good book that is easy to understand as he (a former atheist) questions and cross examines religious teachers and professors? Or you can find some of his videos here on KZbin as well. He has a lot of good augments on why he now believes. Maybe you can find something in his material that can help you. Best wishes to you.

Woah! The Orthodox would definitely disagree with that Cliffe. The focus here, IMO, should be your existence after life. Are you going somewhere or not? The notion that good comes from God is a bit sketch because that is sort of like saying atheists can't be good people. They can. They perhaps cannot get to heaven if they don't believe but they can be good people.

"Does the evidence point to Siddhartha" What evidence? Scientific evidence? Crime evidence? He seems to have a profound misunderstanding of these words based on the way he misuses them. Scientific evidence, which has helped us to discover concepts such as DNA, evolution, relativity, quantum physics, and more, has nothing to do with a mythical creator figure, or lack thereof.

"White Christian slaveholders were contradicting Christ" What would a fundamentalist be without a No True Scotsman claim?

Because he's making claims about who is a true Christian and who isn't. The arrogance is astounding.

Again, it's presuming what a true Christian should and shouldn't do. That's exactly the No True Scotsman fallacy.

Because there is one rule to being a Christian - to identify yourself as Christian (and, I guess, believe in a Christ figure). That's it. You don't get to judge how well others do it. That in itself is un-Christlike.
