Kyle was doing the egg toss with one of his kids, he had a broken egg on his sweatshirt, his girlfriend is helping him pull off his sweatshirt and in doing so, she lifts up his t-shirt and Opie and Jax saw Kyle's back tat and that's when Opie is like " I'll handle this ". Also, I think the reason that Opie and Jax are shirtless in their opening scene with the crib is to show their back tattoos in preparation for (the Samily to see the back tats) what comes up later in the episode when Kyle gets his tat burned off 🤔

Analysis of Half-Sack sitting at the Redwood table: While a prospect would likely not be allowed to sit at the table during church IRL, I’ve always considered this scene a crucial stepping stone to him eventually patching (of course, understanding he never does). In the pilot, Half-Sack is left outside the chapel during official meetings. Later on, and before this episode, Half-Sack is shown to sit in seats against the back wall and stand away from the table. Ep. 5 is the first time he sits at the table. In S1E10 ‘Better Half’, Half-Sack begins a scene sitting at the (otherwise full) table in “Bobby’s chair”. When Bobby comes in with important information Half-Sack moves without word or question and the table remains full (now with the patched members and Unser - another impractical loose end serving for plot reasons). However, Half-Sack making room for a patched member shows the character knew his place as a prospect in this hierarchical society. He was allowed to sit in on later meetings as he grew closer to the end of his prospecting year and could be permitted a seat at the table as long as no one who out ranked him needed a seat. Fin.

39.23. I think Charlie hunnam did a great job with his American accent,,. You could definitely hear his real voice bleed through in a scene where he was yelling or getting very emotional and crying you could always hear a little bit of the English accent bleed through... I'm in no way saying that as a knock on Charlie as a fan who seen the show so many times I actually thought it was pretty cool because you forget that he doesn't have an American accent while you're watching and then he gets emotional and you're like oh right he's just super talented

Theo, you're correct. I've read interviews w/ Kurt Sutter where he said he wanted to take a character - Half-Sack, from Prospect to patching in & then finally becoming an officer. & then that had to be scaled back when Johnny Lewis told KS that he (Johnny) wanted off the show. That's why Half-Sack meets his grisly fate on the last show of Season 2. & then for Mr. Lewis, very sadly, in real life not long after. We get a little reprieve, a sort of coda of KS's master plan w/ Ratboy. Thanks Dudes...Reaper Reviews RAWK!

The “SAMCROW” mistake could’ve been slight foreshadowing, as there are a lot of references to crow birds later in the show’s running. Also, this episode was probably the only time I felt and almost got sick over violence or blood. That scene at the end watching them burn Kyle’s back... *shudders* Underrated acting by that guy tho.

Bugged me when kyle was getting burned that the close ups showed the flame with the blue and focused flame from the oxygen being on but the wide shot only showed the acetylene flame. Just a continuity error that irked me as a welder.

18:41. I don't think they ever mention the single thing to put Otto in jail originally however when he turns on Bobby he reads a list of a lot of the crimes he did to put them in jail and then all the ones he did once he was in jail which first got him life and then got him death

In regards to the comments about only Ope, Jax & Kyle having that back tat: I thought it was just an understanding that all of the sons had that back tattoo - I remember when they started running drugs and needed the help of another charter, they go up to make that deal and find out one guy had died and another left. (Season 4 I believe? Maybe 5?) When they go talk to him in the pet shop he shows his blacked out tattoo saying he was in good standing and even took care of blacking out the tattoo. I felt it was almost a rite of passage or initiation type thing to get that back tat once you’re patched in, and then if you leave you have to black it out because you’re done with the club, no longer associated? Who knows lol just what I understood.

42:00. I completely believe this whole thing was set up as soon as they saw the tattoo on his back,,,,. I think if they didn't see the tattoo they would have just ignored them ignored his pitch on the way to make money and just let him come and go and not talk to him,,,,. Now that they see the back tattoo he has offended the club he didn't follow club rule that's like spitting in their faces so I think it that exact moment they probably reached out to Clay off screen told him about it and now they're setting him up
