At 24:25 it appears that FSD turned left instead of right in a lane where there was a LR choice, in spite of the GPS path indicating a right turn and the car just ahead making that right turn. (In&Out was right in front of them across the road!) It was correct to choose the center lane but then didn't turn right. Question is why? Is this due to some human drivers (the input training data) having problems with this kind of turn? Or did FSD misread the lane sign?

2:05 Tesla will take liability today; all you have to do is purchase your collision and comprehensive insurance from Tesla, instead of State Farm, GEICO, USAA, AAA, or whomever you use now. And it'll likely save you money to do so; Tesla is about $40/month less expensive that my current insurer, USAA.

@BigBen6219 ай бұрын
@@Shapar95 _Where do they say an fsd accident will be their liability?_ In the insurance policy you get when you purchase collision and comprehensive insurance from Tesla. That's how insurance works; if you purchase your insurance from Tesla, they accept liability for any at-fault accident experienced by the insured vehicle, whether or not FSD is engaged. If you're not at fault, the other party's insurance accepts liability.

Great drive, only issues I saw were... 24:25 it turned left instead of right for no apparent reason. 31:55 it pulled out infront of a car forcing it stop when it's exit lane was not clear yet (i'd have hit the report button for that) 24:45 Not really an FSD issue but a map routing issue; it drove all the way out there to try and do a U-Turn in the road but wasn't really possible. Shame FSD can't reverse as otherwise it could have just pulled into any side road and done a 3 point turn like I'd do whenever I take a wrong turn.
@MrMcSnuffyFluffy9 ай бұрын
Came to the comments for 31:55. That was basically a head-on collision if the other driver wasn't locked in.
@ThayneB9 ай бұрын
31:55 is a tough one. A couple drivers make a u-turn at the next light to get in line for In&Out, filling up space in the line. FSD is just a simple machine though and does not "understand" the etiquette of getting in line like the rest of us machines. If the software wasn't at least a little aggressive, it could be stuck waiting for room to cross. It did appear to wait and the other driver raised a hand and waved. Well hopefully it was a wave... For sure mark the time to the engineers. Teach it "getting in line" and u-turns to get in lines (sometimes).

I have questions. Omar admitted in this video that he has a “loophole” that means he doesn’t have to keep his hands on the steering wheel/yoke. So, if this is a Tesla-approved loophole (“Elon mode”) then why does Omar have it? And if this isn’t Tesla-approved, why do they let Omar use it in contradiction of the standard conditions for using FSD? Is Tesla accepting liability for Omar’s vehicle on FSD? If not, is Omar’s insurer aware that he’s doing this?

Is there any particular reason FSD seems to insist on driving in the left-most lane at all times, or at least seems to avoid keeping right? Perhaps not an issue for US, but in EU keeping right is mandatory pretty much everywhere, and left-lane hogging is a good way to piss off a lot of people.

Great video - loved the way you bumped it up to 80 mph on the freeway to show him that you can go as fast as you want, unlike Waymo and Cruise, etc. - I only have one question for you: How can I get that magic loophole that allows you to turn off the nag ... 😱 ... I would even pay an extra monthly charge (like $10 or $20) for that cool feature !! I know it's coming (eventually) ... but any of us experienced FSD drivers should be able to get that option added ... don't you agree? I've been an FSD tester for almost 3 years now! And like you, we upgraded last year from our original Model Y Long Range to a Model Y Performance and transferred our FSD, which we got for $8K at the time ... funny that you can now get it for exactly that same price!

What I don’t get is if you use FSD on a long drive and you are not doing anything but watching you are much more likely to fall asleep . Isn’t this hugely dangerous for the occupant in the drivers seat and all the other passengers who might be with him/ her?
@BigBen6219 ай бұрын
What I have found is that controlling car speed and direction manually is much more fatiguing than having FSD do this, and so I'm *less* likely to fall asleep when I have FSD take control on a long drive. But a far more important point is that if you fall asleep while you're driving manually, there's a very good chance that you'll end in a collision with another car or a stationary object, or even a head-on collision if you're on a two lane road. But if you fall asleep with FSD in control, it'll either wake you up with increasingly strident notifications; or eventually, if it can't wake you up, end up putting on the hazard flashers and pulling to a stop. And the same applies if you're suddenly incapacitated while you're driving, which also occurs occasionally.

Federal authorities say a "critical safety gap" in Tesla's Autopilot system contributed to at least 467 collisions, 13 resulting in fatalities. The findings come from a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration analysis of 956 crashes in which Tesla Autopilot was thought to have been in use. I would do FSD videos for Bangkok, but I would have to be real and when the software has people passing on the right (left in Thailand) or approaching to pass on the right and not move over for faster traffic and not be a left lane hog. Your FSD driving demos are impressive. However, they don't address a critical issue -- what will FSD do in a true emergency? If the Whole Mars Catalog wants to be a real FSD tester, then you need to push the envelope. Have one of your friends run a stop sign directly in front of your Tesla. Will it apply the necessary emergency breaking to avoid the accident? During this test, DO NOT touch the controls even if you feel a collision is eminent. If a collision occurs, so be it.
