In this video, I return to Crawford Notch on the Appalachian Trail to give back to this year's thru-hikers by creating the ultimate trail magic experience! As someone who has hiked the AT twice, I wanted to share my love for the trail by surprising hikers with some much-needed trail magic. I polled my Instagram followers (@nahamsha.hiker) to gather the best ideas for what to offer, and I tried to include everything people recommended!
Throughout the video, I’ll show you what I brought and share my tips and tricks for doing trail magic. I'll also recap some of the amazing thru-hiker stories that were shared and reflect on what it was like being immersed in the thru-hiker community again one year later.

I'm not a thru hiker but my daughter and I pack up my big truck and drive 2 hour to southern New York with a 10 foot picnic table and a 12 foot tent over the table. We put a barbecue grill on and grill hamburgers and hot dogs. We have a ton of other stuff but they do love watermelon. The hikers all said it's one of the best trail magic. We have plans next year to make it better

I did trail magic once & the one thing we didn't think of was to bring a big trash bag so they could get rid of their trash. If I do it again, I will be sure to have a trash bag!

My favorite trail magic meal was an old fashioned Ham & Cheese sandwich, Miss Janet gave me that a few years ago. If weather was cold a grilled Ham & Cheese plus Tomato Soup would be great. Tomato Soup could be made in a large coffee pot for easy dispensing.

Nice work! Our trailer would draw power from our truck battery when plugged in for extended periods of time parked, so we would unplug it otherwise the truck might not start.

What a super nice person! My son told us about Trail Magic. I did it once in VA when traveling on Rt. 60. We took cold drinks and just left them at a spot off the highway where the AT tossed the highway. When returning home, we picked up the ice chest. Thanks for sharing!

What a blast! Great Job! Car doors open too long killed battery? There is a usually a ceiling switch which will allow the doors stay open with the interior lights off ( I know, Dad advice) 😂

I just did some trail magic at Rattle River trailhead in Shelburne for some friends who have been hiking since March and I was so hoping some others would come by and they did.....I made a fresh tortellini salad, loaded with veggies and salami and sweets and bread and cheese and Olive oil dip.....I also was able to gift them LMNT that I got from your link, that was much appreciated. Thanks for the link. A hit was Oreos and Butterfingers, LOL I knew they would love the veggies. I also brought my Jackery, best little charger ever, I use mine in my Basecamp Airstream when I am off grid for plug in stuff, I also run on solar with the AS.

When backing a trailer put your hand at the bottom of the wheel. The trailer will go in the same direction as your hand.

Starting a thru-hike at Amicalola Falls next year. I'm a little anxious about letting trail angels know I can't eat certain foods (milk, eggs, chocolate, to name a few) without sounding like I expect them to provide alternatives! I would be happy just to socialize over a cup of coffee or something.

From all your hiking experiences, you know what hikers want and need. On backing a trailer, go very slow, for your trailer to right turn your explorer left. For your trailer to go left turn the explorer right. Again go very slow. If possible pull in from the driver's side, then have your mom stand exactly where you want to go.
