The biggest risk from one of these tests is the rather high likelihood that you find out that your apparent father is not your actual father. It’s shocking how frequently this happens. 🤷‍♂️
@dawnelder9046
@dawnelder9046 9 ай бұрын
Actually 8 percent of the time. About 5 percent of those fathers know. Sperm banks or adoption. So in reality 3 percent. A young woman in Toronto bought her entire family DNA tests. The parents had to call a family meeting. The 4 children all had the same dad, just not the one who raised them. His swimmers didn't work. They all had a good laugh. But for those 3 percent where Dad did not know, it must be devastating for both the father and the child. Especially if very close.

In this age of third-party info-sharing and privacy law loopholes and aggressive marketing tactics, I don't think it's possible to be too cautious. I've never spent money on one of those ancestry tests because I had some doubts about their accuracy, but this video brings up factors that are an even bigger concern. What I don't appreciate is that 'those Republicans' are being blamed (and I'm not a Republican). The rapid increase in those tests' availability and popularity just happened to occur during a Republican Presidential term. Insurance company greed has been around a lot longer.

This is stupid. If you do read the privacy policy for ancestry, it CLEARLY SAYS "Ancestry does not share your individual Personal Information (including your Genetic Information) with third-parties without your additional consent other than as described in this Privacy Statement. In particular, we will not share your Genetic Information with INSURANCE COMPANIES, employers, or third-party marketers without your express consent." as for the lying to the insurance companies, that is an obvious risk you take when you do a dna test, and you would opt out for hearing your parents or relatives telling you that you need to wear sunscreen because you get skin cancer. I have been thinking about this in order to find out what other races that I have within in me and to find long lost family members. But I haven't done it before because I too feel like it is sensitive information that shouldn't just be uploaded online somewhere or for companies to easily access. Also yes it gives us some information that we didn't know,but it's not that beneficial.We can live good lives without this information. The people who really want to be apart of our lives would have done whatever it took to be there.Then there's no guarantee that the family we find will want anything to do with us.This one lady found that her loving dad was not her bio dad and her mom would not tell her who was.So her doing the test helped her find her true ethnicity, but it broke her heart and her dad's heart.

Especially since apparently, no one has actually cared all this time about people who've done the tests who fit those descriptions. Several very powerful and prominent people, including multiple people who have run for President of the United States, have done these tests. Not one single thing yet has come out saying these people's lives were at risk for having done a test, out of all these years.

You can opt-out of subjecting your DNA to further research or the sharing of your information with other parties. People just have to take the time to read the fine print. If you treat it like the "I have read the terms and conditions" page on other sites then you may not like what you've agreed to down the road. I just took one of these tests and I thought this video was going to make me regret that decision. Like, "What's going to happen now? Was this wrong for me to do?" This video taught me nothing. 😂 Pay attention to what you're signing up for! End of story.

@@Food4thought2023 no shit, what did you think the terms and conditions were for? Of course you can't use a product if you don't accept their terms. The actual comment just said to read them to make sure you're fine with them and if you're not leave that product alone or look for a similar one. Aka: No need for a video like this one if you read the terms.

It takes 5 weeks for them to receive your DNA plus another 6-8 weeks for them to give your results. It is a long time to wait especially if you’re wanting to know anxiously more about your ancestors and family. It’s been 3/5 weeks for me since I sent my DNA to Ancestry. Already into the 4th week. It costs money to look at others family trees and premium information which can hinder research as much as accepting wrong info.

I took the ancestry dna test looking for viking and found none. Being confused it took 2 weeks to follow this rumor told by my dark age nobles and found these busts that the Roman's have 3000 years ago and my family look like twins of these guys still today and my last name means the eyebrow bridge of the Sarmatians. They found the tombs of the Amazon warrior women and they are the daughters of the Sarmatians knights. So my DNA proved I am decended from the very first horse people and the Amazon warrior women are actually my Grandmother's, while the Sarmatian knights are my grandfather's. All Slavs are 50/50 Sarmatian/Slavic.

"how do they know whose your family" because if people are genetically related to you close enough, you'll share enough DNA that they can tell. If your parents, siblings, grandparents, great grandparents (which is possible because there are elderly people still alive who have tested and have great grandchildren who also tested), first, second, third or fourth cousin have tested, there will be enough genetic similarity to you. That's how they tell.

Why would they need your old vial of spit after they just mined YOUR DNA for information? You are so naive you are confusing "I destroyed a vial with your spit" with "I destroyed all digital and physical records of your DNA, genetic diseases you are prone to have, your ethnicity and all your relative's information" which they did not do. Because you agreed to sell it to them already.

Also, there's the way in which legislation may change in the future, leaving you helpless in ways you cannot imagine. For instance, due to some alleged "virus" authorities may decree that DNA information will be crucial to eradicate the virus since it reveals those more likely to transmit it, or to catch it. You may find yourself targeted for whatever procedures those authorities decide are best for the community, albeit Draconian for you and those in your little group.
