My folks have an Amazon parrot and he absolutely understands comedic timing. He laughs at jokes only when they’re funny. If you tell him an unfunny joke you’re getting silence from him haha. I think after 40 years of living with people he genuinely gets it

@@RossThePuppyCat I'll never forget walking around a big pet store that had a huge Blue Parrot or Macaw out perched on a ladder in one of the aisles just hanging out and interacting with people. I was so focused on looking at him (GORGEOUS bird!) that I accidentally tripped over the ladder...as soon as I did, it absolutely BURST out laughing at me in such a human voice and pointing at me with it's talon! It did so as I walked the whole length of the aisle. First time in my life I've ever been roasted by a bird! It actually blew my mind at the time. I'll never forget it.

My old friend Roy had a blue macaw named Buddy. Roy and his wife would open the window closest a sidewalk just half a block from a neighborhood pub and laugh at the drunk people who try having a conversation with Buddy. Buddy would say" Cops are coming run" about a third of the pub folks would actually run away Buddy would whistle and quite a few women would look to see who's whistleing and say " wowwie nice legs" Roy and his wife sat for hours recording short phrases on a reel to reel tape recorder and played it when they went shopping or for walks I was amazed how clear Buddy spoke and how much he learned to swear and how fast he learned new phrases from T V like " Freeze your under a dress " he couldn't say arrest Buddy passed away at the age of 55 or 60 One of Buddy's favorite sayings was " Just plant me in the back yard next to the damn lion"

Giz is awesome, but I kinda wish you'd post a video of how much work it is to have a parrot in the family. Because his cage is super clean and you work hard to give him a good life. A lot of people don't realize how much work parrots are. And they're not all talkers like Giz. My own old man AG parrot only says about 10 words! And he is a messy dude!❤

Giz speaks way clearer than most birds I've heard talk. His comprehension for conversation is impressive too. He'd probably do very well on Britain's Got Talent. Would be cool to hear him sing other bird songs like "Bye Bye Birdie " . Thanks so much for sharing . Always wanted a talking bird to train and chat with , but my lifestyle didn't make it possible. @@DolphinsPlayingInAquaMoonlight hi, she’s something I’ve never expected, I had an umbrella cockatoo that had passed away 6 months prior and seeing his big empty cage made me miss him so much more , after searching for about two months to find a rescue I’d just about given up , then one day a neighbor that knew my bird passed away said she might know someone, she made a few phone calls and said she knew someone that wanted to rehome her parrot , I immediately said I would really like to see this bird and got in contact with the women trying to rehome the bird , I drove about an hour to get there she had an African grey that she inherited from her husbands elderly parents , the bird is 40 years old , she explained her situation she has cancer and wanted someone that would give her bird a great home as this was now her baby ,the birds name is Covo after talking with her for over a hour she said I was the right person to give her bird to , covo was quiet all the way home and for about a week ,then it was like someone flipped a switch, the numerous whistles, phrases, and things coming out of her , omg , I keep in contact with my lady friend who gave the bird to me and I try and visit and text her to assure her of what our progress is , covo knows about 30 words , phrases, whistles, she’s trying to learn the Andy of Mayberry tune( 😆she mess’s that up ) when I walk in the door she says hello , and when I leave she say good bye, she’s with me all day long except if I go grocery shopping, she’s now a cuddle bunny wants to be held , petted , scrinches, she’s just the best thing ever, sorry for the long story but she not and average bird I’m an old guy and in my lifetime I’ve never seen a bird with her capabilities , I hit the bird lottery and I’m so glad that Diane entrusted me with the honor of caring for her bird , this is Covo’s and my Journey together , 😊

I once believed the people who said parrot talk is just physical mimicry, but the AGs can talk to humans for real! I am so impressed at how he doesnt often use phrasing as we would or in a literal way, but he very much understands the ideas, context, & themes...and can intentionally make what i would consider word play jokes, not just getting a laugh for a specific sound! AND the AGs seem to understand English usage a bit better than their owners understand parrot! I know some of the issue is our inferior physical voices that dont make all those noises, but all the AGs on YT, regardless of how they are trained, seem to get a bit frustrated that their hoomans are not progressing as well in being trained. Also, is sarcasm a common trait among AGs? They seem to really get it lol. How are these birds so smart????
