I tried water clearing additive in the tank,zip, tried gunk remover additives,zip...check engine light, total loss of power clunking down the road. I saw this utube, read the comments and went with disconnecting both battery leads and grounded them both for 20 minutes then reconnected Took them for a long hard run & presto, works better than it has for many years with no problems and engine lights out. A bonus was my automatic tran shifted problem free for once. Thankyou...thankyou....thankyou!!!!

Worked !!!!!!!! I have a 2006 Chevy Aveo. The check engine light came on and Via my OBD code reader, I had a small evap code and an oxygen sensor code. I looked into both issues. The check engine light came back on and now I had those codes return and three new codes for throttle position sensor, peddal sensor and transmission module sensor. I changed them. The problem remained. . . . Now the car would run good for a few minutes and then run like crap and go into limp mode. ( no fuel pedal response and car ran like it had one or two dead cylinders) I then removed and cleaned my MAF sensor checked and renewed all my major ground wire connections at my battery, starter, engine block, and body grounds. Bad grounds can effect sensors. . . .so they say. It ran even worse!!!! I was at my mental end. I was almost going to take her into the back country and light her up 🔥. Instead of throwing more money at this car I found your power control module reset. DID it step by step and This car now runs better than ever!!!!!! No check engine light = no codes. It accelerates better, shifts better. . . . Like a new car. You save us average Joe's from getting robbed by shop rates and shops that sell you more than you need and help us fix our own. Good job my friend!! I subscribed, liked and hit that bell.

I made a special jumper with alligator clips putting a 10 ohm 100 watt resister in series with the the jumper cable, adding protection and safety to protect the myriad of delicate complex programmable logic units modern autos have. I bought the 10 ohm 100 watt resistor and alligator jumper clips from Amazon. I used it to reset my wife's 2016 Cadillac SRX premium in operable electronic system. It drained the voltage of the electronic system from 1.2 voltes to 0 volts in 15-20 minutes. I would recommend using a voltmeter to determine when the transient voltage had been drained to 0 volts. To me the 10 ohm 100 watt resistor is a must.

THANK YOU so much! The night before last I went out to roll up the windows in my Chevy 2011 HHR and left the key in the ignition. Yesterday about 5 pm, I got in the car to leave and saw what I had done, and of course the battery was dead. I put in on a charger for about 40 mins and then drove off. Immediately when driving up my street, something didn't feel right. I drove another mile or two, on 30 mph roads and noticed when I let off of the gas, the car would slow down, just like it would if it had a manual transmission. As I entered a road with a higher speed limit I finally realized the car was not up shifting out of first gear. Oh, no! I drove the car back home and started looking for answers on the internet and KZbin. Last night I tried a process to reset the transmission by turning the ignition key to position 2 and holding the gas pedal down for 15 secs then turning the key off and waiting 5 mins then starting the car. That had no effect. This morning I got back on the search engines and KZbin and found this video and watched it several times. It made sense to me. Reboot all of the computers. I said a prayer and followed the instructions exactly. IT WORKED!!! What a relief! The car has a lot of miles on it and the prospect of putting a new ECU in could have been very expensive and not a good investment at this point. This worked for me plus one very important thing to do after. Make sure to drive in an area where you can drive around without too many long stops because my car had a very low idle and wanted to die when I went to a complete stop for more than 5 seconds. I drove around a non busy industrial area for a good 15 minutes and the idle became more and more normalized until my engine sounds perfect again. Finally after it sounded normal again hopped on the freeway for about 15 minutes again My car is a 2007 Camry if anyone is curious

Yes just don't leave the positive wire on the battery when you short positive and negative. Unplug both leave the battery unconnected. Or just pull the fuse of the ecu in the fuse box should work too.
@AtifMian883 жыл бұрын
Good procedure but i would put a small 5w bulb instead of jumping the negative and positive terminals so it drains any caps slowly instead of shorting the system
@larrytemen4789 Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t short the system. With the ground removed and not connected to the battery, the circuit isn’t complete, therefore a short circuit is impossible to happen.

Not the best way to "discharge" static stored voltage within the ecu. I'd suggest using a test light in-line between the disconnected cables to consume power. Using a direct link between positive and negative causes a "discharge" and abrupt energy loss by generating heat as the consumption of power. Electronics' greatest enemy is heat. Using a test light is a much safer way, and allows the light to consume the power, rather than the ecu being subjected to heat by way of a direct short circuit. Just one old man's suggestion.

@@KFLson yes. With the cables disconnected, use the test light clamp to one cable, and the point (probe) to the other cable. There likely won't be enough energy to light the bulb, but the bulb will consume any stored power. It will completely discharge within 60-120 seconds.

For much faster results all you really have to do is disconnect positive battery terminal and touch it to ground 2 or 3 times for 20 seconds. Then reconnect positive terminal. Drive your vehicle 7 to 11 miles and while driving make shore to stop and start as you would at a stop sign . This will let your ECU relearn driving stratages.

This video gives me some hope. For days and sometimes weeks, my car ran perfectly fine until out of the blue, bam, sputtering, backfiring, running rough, and worst of all, once at a stop it will not move an inch. Idles okay, but won't move and backfires every time I press the gas. It's a 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage DE, 1.5L, manual transmission. I added new spark plugs and wires, no help. I changed the distributor with no help (cap had oil in it). Ran seafoam through the upper and gas tank, no help. Cleaned the EGR valve out, no help. Checked/cleaned fuel injectors, no help. This weekend, I went all out. I replaced the EGR valve, replaced EGR vacuum solenoid, replaced MAP sensor, replaced throttle body position sensor, cleaned out the cat (worried the intermittent issues was from occasional block in the cat). I also have O2 sensors to replace, but it started raining, and those sensors are on bloody tight. The last thing I have left is this video's suggestion of resetting the computer. Something I've never done before, to be honest. God I hope this works too. Previously added a new fuel filter, air filter, timing belt 25k miles ago, alternator 15K miles ago, battery 1.5 years ago. I didn't reset the computer after these tasks (battery proba did 1.5 years ago before all these fixes, although the mechanic replaced the alternator and might have done so.

If this doesn’t work after you reattach the battery and your horn spontaneously starts blaring again a while later, breath and calmly make sure to take the time to detach the battery before trying to pull the fuses. This didn’t work and TIPM caught on fire because battery was still attached.

YOU Don't have to use a jumper cable just unhook Neg Battery cable for 15mins & you don't need to cycle the key just start & drive the car the ECM will do a relearn within couple hours BUT all its going to do is Clear the ECM , If your Vehicle has Problems like a bad 02sensor or bad MAF or Bad MAP or Bad TPS OR any bad part , Unhooking the battery cable is not going to magically FIX those Bad Parts If you don't replace any bad parts when the ECM does the relearn all those codes for those bad parts will be set again & your check engine light is going to come back on !

I've always reset every electronic in my car by disconnecting the positive and negative cables and connecting the wires themselves together to ground everything in the car out. I dont really see how you're doing much more than just bypassing the car and draining the battery by grounding it out. I've reset many ecms including my own car's computer before I'd tune them up while getting ready for a drag racing event. To quickly reset everything disconnect the battery and touch the wires together so it grounds out the electronics in the car. Doing it the way he shows in the video would basically just drain the battery down because the battery is being grounded out. I dont see how this guy's method really does anything more than just disconnecting your negative terminal for 30minutes would do. Also dont drive it easy after the reset. Drive it rather harder so you get a more performance oriented tune. More timing advance, firmer shifts (less slipping "in automatics only"), better Air fuel ratio, and personally I e gotten a noticeable feel in throttle response (likely the timing) and I've also gotten slightly better gas mileage. My car is slightly older than his f*rd. My car is a 2002 Pontiac TransAm WS6 with a 6 speed manual transmission car that has 70,140 original miles on it. Great car that is not even heavily modified and makes over 400 rear wheel horse power and still get 22-24mpg. Even after you reset everything and then drive it harder for a while, you can then ease off of it and drive normally and you should hold that performance increase for awhile and get better gas mileage. Once you notice the mpg dropping back down and it starts feeling weaker or less responsive, then reset it again and start over. I usually do my car ever 2 months or before I do a tune up before I would go racing. I hit my goal while racing so now I just tune it up for performance and to keep everything fresh and running top notch.
